you can buy a 3.5" HDD box!you just have to put the HDD on it and conect it by USB port!it is detected by windows Xp automaticly and Viola!!hehe!
You have to know if your HDD is Sata or IDE to buy the box!
here in Portugal they cost about 40Euro...

It depends on what you mean by "stop running". Does it make any funny noises when it boots or starts up? I have a program by the name of Ontrack EasyRecovery. If the hard drive will read information at all it can recover it. Now if the drive is making strange or disturbing noises, that is much much harder and much much more expensive. The people that retreive that information have very expensive and special machines to run the disks of your hard drive to be able to read it.
