When it comes to keeping a clean house, I suck!! Ok, don't get me wrong, I was not that bad when I was single and lived alone. I am married with 2 small children and 2 stinky dogs. My husband and son have been away for over a week now and I have been cleaning all week. My 2 year old is very messy, but at least she helps pick up her mess. My son cries when he is asked to pick up the mess he just made!!My house is in good condition right now except for one very big mess...the kitchen. I hate doing dishes.
How's you house???

My house is clean but that is mostly due to my husband. During the winter his job is slow and he's home more. He does most of the cleaning when he's home more. I'll start doing more this summer when his job picks up and I'm the one who is home more.

You know we are the envy of some women. My husband cleans, irons my clothes DAILY, does laundry and dishes, and make sure my son is on track with his school work..and still goes to work. I didn't asked him to do any of this, he does it on his own because he cannot sit still for a second.
I use to hate it because I thought he had an obsessive/compulsive disorder to the fact that I felt like I was sleeping with the enemy,..now I am just spoiled.

You are very lucky! My home is fairly clean, but the kitchen is definitely always clean as is the bathrooms, but there usually is toys in the living room, as my sons room is small and helikes to play in the living room, but he always puts them away at the end of the night.I also have a 6 month old, and baby's take up so much space it starts to look a little cluttered. But you are very lucky to have a husband spoil you so =)

same here.. i suck when it comes to housekeeping.. but i do good when i live alone in a boarding house. i guess that's just the way it is: its easier to keep things in control and clean when you are living alone.
welcome to the club... i hate dishes too... and i also hate the laundry... and i never believed that those are the things that ONLY woman should do...
im lucky cause my big brother is a home buddy and he's the best housekeeper in the world ;)

You sound like me. I can straighten up but it is so impossible to get the house really clean with a 1 1/2 year old and a 2 1/2 year old. I just can't do it. I had someone come over and do it yesterday for 4 1/2 hours straight. She didn't take a break. Now how would that ever be possible for me? This morning both of my boys decided to throw cereal everywhere and my husband threw his clothes down wherever he wanted. So much for my clean house :)

make your kids pick the cereal up. They are old enough to do it themselves. Even their toys. The trick is to make a game out of it. Hand them a plastic grocery bag and point to what you want them to pick up. Eventually, they will do things on their own instead of mommy running behind them to clean up.
As far as your husband goes,..is he aware that he is throwing his clothes around,.. and if so,.. does he know what a laundry basket look like? if not, maybe you need bring the basket to him and give him the grand tour or demonstration of how it works. Who knows, he might get a kick out of the Suzy Homemaker lesson 101.

My house isn't too bad as my parents have been staying. I cleaned before they arrived and my mum helped me keep it clean.
I hate doing dishes as well so I have a dishwasher now.
My kids do help a bit, they have to clear the table and put their washing in the machine etc. Also if my eldest who is 5 doesn't clean her room I don't bother either so that is the messiest room in the house.

It is natural, especially being a young mother, that your crib is a little unkempt. Honey, your problem isn't the cleaning, it is that you are tired. But as for now, you can have your older child help you clean up; sometimes kids don't mind helping mommy out.
As far as washing dishes go, it is my escape place. You have no idea how much it can clear your mind as you clean.
If you don't mind, might I offer that you play upbeat music such as hard rock or something to jam to?
Sing and clean girl, sing and clean. Kids will like it. Even if it is off key. Do a little dancing with it. Loud music and a broom. Get your clean on!!

That would be great if I were a "young" mother, but I am 51!! I totally agree about the music. I am a classic rock fan and I do turn up the volume. My main problem is that everyone thinks I am the maid. No on (except my 2 year old) picks up their own mess. I am teaching Emma to pick up the toys she puts on the floor. She things it is fun. I hope to at least raise her to be neat.
I feel a "clean" coming on!!! LOL Take care sweetie!!!

Oh, I hate clutter... My house always looks nice because I don't do clutter, but then again I have no children and I live alone so it's relatively easy.
Cleaning is another whole issue. I do the important things, but I am terrible at dust. It seems so endless. The dust comes back by the next day!!! Why hasn't someone invented something to keep the dust away. After all it is 2007??? Lol...

I need a maid. I hate housework. I haven't dusted or vaccuumed in a few weeks. My husband usually vaccuums though... I do laundry and dishes on a regular basis - and even they sit around when finished...

I work full time outside the home. I have a husband, two teens, and two pets. Needless to say, the house is cluttered and messy. I used to be very good about keeping it clean and straightened....that is, until I discovered myLot!! Who cares about a little dust? Who really needs clean undies...just turn them inside out! Wrinkled shirts..that's okay..wrinkles are a sign of hard work! Carpets that need vacuuming...nah, too much vacuumming may wear the fibers thin prematurily! Mylot must come first!

I think I'm ok when it comes to house cleaning. Being a SAHM i'm constantly tidying up after my 4 year old and then when the hubby is home, its even more work (haha). I use to do it daily but now I'm only cleaning 2-3 days a week at the most. I have a lower back problem so I have to make sure I don't overdo it (well thats my excuse). I don't paticularly like cleaning the kithen either but I have no choice but to. I am happy that we have a dishwasher because even though its only three of us, we go through so many dishes like as if we are feeding a family of 5. Happy cleaning!!!!

HA, housekeeping! I am fortunate for my hubby who knows that he didn't marry a maid or a chef, because I am definitely neither! Don't get me wrong, I don't live in a pig sty or anything. You see, I hate clutter. So, my hubby and I get a huge freaking house so I won't be cluttered. I usually keep things picked up, but for the real nitty gritty cleaning, that's only done about once every 2 months. I am even considering a maid to come in once every other week!

I am an excellent housekeeper. Not because I really love cleaning or anything, but because I have this thing about dirty kitchens and bathrooms. Both places need to be kept sanitary because they are sensitive spots in your home. I try and do very thorough clean once a week and throughout the week I keep things clean and picked up. I think its just a good habit.

I don't want to sound like as though I'm blowing my own trumpet but by far I'm a good homemaker. I enjoy keeping the house clean at all times. I have to pick after my hubby and since I stay at home I don't mind doing it.That's maybe because its only my hubby and me as of now...it must be hard with the kids and dogs.I hope to maintain my home well, even after I have kids..well only time will tell!

I think I'm a pretty good housekeeper. Sometimes I'll get extremely lazy and not feel like doing anything. But I usually like to keep the place tidy. I only have a 9 month old and she's not that hard to clean after. My husband isn's that messy, and he usally helps around. I'm actually going to get to my cleaning in a while myself.

I've always been a clean freak. I try to keep my house as clean as I can. I don't have any kids, but i do have a husband and three dogs and them alone can turn the house upside down. it seems like i'm cleaning all the time. but even when i think the house is dirty, people will say that it looks really clean. but i look at all th corners and i see dirt! so then i'll have to clean the whole house again! i'm pretty bad at that....

I'm a terrible housekeeper. I try, but I get too easily distracted with doing other things. I make excuses after a long workday - "I already put in ten hours, now I want to play!"
I tend to do most of my housework on Saturdays, which means that if something I'd rather do is going on that weekend I blow it off.
My boyfriend is much better at it than I am. As much as I'd rather stay home than work, I'd probably make a lousy housewife.

I forget who said it, but "my home is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy." That really about sums it up. :) I try my best to keep everything neat, and clutter bugs me to no end - but we seem to have so much of it anyway. I really want to have a place for everything, but I just don't. Some things - like my scrapbooking stuff - just inevitably creep into a corner of the living room floor, etc. It's definitely an area I'd like to improve on.
