today i was making rice to go with the chicken i was having for supper. since it is valentine's day, i thought it would be cool to color it pink. i substituted 1 cup of the water for 1 cup beet juice (from a can of beets). i then cooked the rice the way i normally would. it turned out really well. My boyfriend thought it was really cool. has anyone else ever done this before?

When I make rice pilaf I use a few drops of yellow food coloring. Your addition of beet juice was a great idea and I'm glad it came out well. I'll have to try that next year.
