To build up a gradual tan I use Johnsons holiday skin everytime I get out of the shower.
For an instant tan I use Sally Hansen or St Tropez. St Tropez is very popular amongst celebrities- its best to get a professional to apply this one but it gives great results. Its probably best avoided by pale people as it gives quiete an intense result.
Before you apply anything- use a body scrub concentrating on dryer areas such as knees, elbows and ankles. Then moisturise. If you apply it to your face make sure you use a much lighter layer than you do on the rest of your body. After you've applied the tan make sure you wash your hands or alternatively wear clear gloves during application. Wipe joints with a tissue to get rid of any excess. If you have any smudges use tan remover or nail varnish remover to even it out.
If your paler i'd recommend Fantasy Tan- this an airbrush which is very effective.

I'm using the Model Inc. right now. It's a good self tanner but you have to watch out how you spray it because you can get blotchy. It gives you a nice tone though. You can buy it at Sephora. I like Neutrogena a lot. It doesn't give you the deep color some others do but it is nice and even.

Hi, the best tip I can give you is to exfoliate your skin before the fake tan!
So it will be smooth and fresh, and you can go on with your application!
