my three kids all had a bottle and a comforter, beth had milkie and blankie(a cot sheet which is now a notted rag) reece had duggie and bobi(a toy dog i got free on a baby magazine when i was pregnant) and luke has bobo and ralphie(a big ty dog my neighbours daughter gave him)
beths9,reece is 5 and lukes two and a half.im ashamed to say that beth was six when i took the bottle off her,she only had one for bed but she wouldnt part with it.reece was 4 and luke still has his.i have no intentions of ever taking their comforters away though i dont think it hurts them to have something that is theirs and only theirs and is special to them.

yes the binky is a dummy or pacifier thanks for responding it does not hurt for a child to have a special something to hang on to as long as it is not the bottle or pacifier

My son is now three years old and he still drinks his milk from the bottle. I don't know how to stop him because he's not able to get to sleep if he doesn't have one.

just simply have him throw his bottles in the trash all of them and tell him that he is a big boy as for going to sleep give him a sippy cup

Mine never wanted a bottle, and is a binky a pacifier ? If so she never wanted that either. i hvae one in her crin and sometimes she will grab it and shake it, and sometimes she'll put the hard plastic part in her mouth, but she won't keep it in her mouth if i put it there, she just chews at it and it pops out lol. she enjoys the sippy cup though. i dont know if she gets more water on her or in her belly but i bets its close. :P

My son was completely done with all of his bottles by the time he was 7 months old. He would occassionally take a binky until he was about 3 months is all.
When he was 4.5 months old we offered him a sippy cup. He would drink out of them sometimes, but not all the time. He never really liked botttles, either, though. Then when he was about 6 months old, we gave him one of those straw sippy cups. He LOVES them. He pretty much was done with all bottles at that point. At 7 months we packed them all up.
Now he's almost 13 months old and drinks out of a "Big boy cup" at home. We still use the sippy cups with straws when we are eating out, though. He still spills stuff with the big boy cups sometimes.

well i was really lucky with my son as far as the pacifier was concerned.. when he was around 6 months old he decided he didnt like it at all anymore.. now with his bottle it was a little bit more diffucult, as he was sucking too hard on the sippy cups and kept choking! but i think he was around 16 months old last time he had a bottle?

Mine was one years old. I thought that this would be too young but the doctor had suggested so i gave it a try. she was fine i think it was like for a day that she asked for her bottle.
Now my son was terrible i think he may have been close to two. He was sent to bed with a bottle though and that was the hard one to kick!

I really think that a year is great but if they want to guive up the bottle before a year that is better it is really hard to deciede to brake them from the paci it is great if they do not want it at all Thanks for responding

The bottle was exactly 12 months old. I took all of her bas and hide them from her... she just had to deal with it. As for the paci... well we are still working on it. That one is not a huge thing for me right now... her daddy is in the military and leaves often... so when he goes for his next tour overseas I will do it... but right now it is her security.

my oldest son had a binky until the age of 3 he had to have open heart surgery and the binky was only to keep him satisfied because he would pass out so often he came through his surgery ok and he is 30years old now So I can understand about the security Thanks for responding

I'm so bad about the binky. Mine still have it and my oldest is 2 1/2 but he only gets it at night. We are going to take it away very soon becuase I hear that it may cause problems with their teeth after 3. I took the bottle away at 12 months with my first and 9 months with my 2nd. He was ready at 9 months. He wants to do everything his older brother does all the time.
