It was so weird. The one family lived on a farm with their 2 kids and they were 90 miles away from the nearest city. The wife thinks she has to stock up incase there is an Apocalypse. What they eat is raw meat and like old curdled milk and raw eggs. Everything they eat is raw. They don't believe in cleaning so they had mold growing all over the house. Their 2 kids don't go to school. They have to work on the farm for 8 to 10 hours a day. I was so grossed out watching them eat this raw meat. Then there is this jar that they put raw meat in and save it for like 4 months and then eat it like it's a treat or something. I couldn't believe it. It was really something. Anybody else see it?

Oh my god!!!! I was just so grossed out, as I am sure that most people were. I guess their ratings arae slipping a little, so they are now matching up people that have nothing in commmon. Makes for good TV. I can't even eat steak Tartar. I can't fathom the thought of raw meat, and can't believe what they were eating. That stuff in the jar looked absolutely discusting and whatever they were having that passed for milk was just gross. Did you see that boy sucking down the raw eggs? Yuck! I think that I would have to become a vegatarian. As for the condition of the house, it was deplorable. The only thing that I like about the condition of the house was that it made mine look pristine! GROSS!

That is exactly what I was thinking. I would become a vegetarian. I'm not a veggie fan but it would be easier then eating raw meat. What I don't get is they were eating raw
chicken. Wouldn't they get semenella (sorry don't know how to spell it) poisoning from that?

Well theoretically ALL chicken is not contaminated with salmonella so you could technically eat it and not get infected, if you're lucky. Still, who would chance it? Not me!

I never watch that show. I think that is disgusting. How did the new wife that came into that place react? How did that wife reaction in a civilized home? I think that would have been a show that I would have like to see because the life styles had to be so different.

I am sure there will be a re-run, just stay tuned, well it was a shocker. I am with you. I normally don't watch the program, but my mom had it on and it looked interesting so I watched it with her. I am just very surprised by it all. The wife that switched to the family in the country was not happy about eating raw meat. In fact she didn't eat it at all and she objected so many times.

This was totally gross. I mean can't you get sick from eating raw meat like that. I'm sorry but I feel that that is just so wrong to feed kids. I agree with the fact that there is good bacteria but that doesn't mean you have to live in filth.

The thing is we didn't see how the cooked food affected her. She may have gotten sick too and we just didn't see it. I think the father and kids got sick becuase their first cooked meal was burgers and fries. That is alot of greasy food to ingest when you are used to eating nothing but raw foods. The change in diet was too drastic. Please no one get mad at me for what I am about to say. It's like when you change your dog's brand of food. You cannot completely change the food in one meal because it can cause your dog to get really sick. You have to gradually introduce the new food over 3-5 feedings until you get the dog completely changed over in order to avoid the dog getting sick.
That family went from a totally raw food diet to high-fat, greasy, cooked food in one meal. Of course they got sick. Haven't you ever eaten anything new that you weren't used to eating and gotten sick? I tried the raw food thing (fruits and veggies only) and the first week or so I was really sick. My doctor told me it was the complete and drastic change in diet. I didn't last on the raw food diet. I was always hungry!!

Yes i seen it. That is so gross eating raw meat. What i want to know is how come the father and the 2 kids got sick after eating normal cooked food when the wife that got swapped didnt get sick when she went out to eat and ate normal food. i think they was faking it because she would have got sick too wouldnt you think?

I seen it last. I thought how they lived was very unsanitary. I do think those kids have been brainwashed. I could never eat raw meat. I know some people do. But not washing your hands or cleaning your house at all...How gross is that? I am sorry but I feel like those kids are being neglected in a way.

That episode was so gross, yet there I was glued to the TV lol. I wonder why, they would go on this show. They don't go to school, eat raw food, don't clean, how are these kid's ever going to find someone to marry? That jar of meat, I could not believe that they thought of this as a treat, Oh my God, what about the raw egg's!!! The toothpast!!! That drink they have at two in the morning!! Oh, I could go on and on and on about that family. Great topic by the way.

Oh yeah I forgot about the clay and butter toothpaste. YUCK!! And yes at 2 am everyday the mother would make them wake up and drink this spoiled milk stuff and then go back to bed. Her theory was if you don't eat every 5 hours your body goes into anorexic shock. Please.........

I forgot to talk about having to eat every 5 hours. Raw food diets are not very filling. You eat a lot of stuff, but it is digested and expelled very quickly. Most people who live on raw food diets (lots of info on the internet) eat every 3-5 hours because they get really really hungry a lot. There are a lot of health benefits to a raw food diet too. It's not what we consider a normal diet, but it is the same diet that was around for centuries before man got wise to cooking his food.
The only thing I really had a problem with on the show was the farm mother's belief that drinking water was actually going to hurt you. Our bodies are made up mostly of water so we need water to stay alive.

OH my word, are you serious??? and they ATE it...Man, that's not cool..It's not even cool for the kids not to go to school..
I watch it sometimes but not always. Man it amazes me how some families live. I mean to each his/her own, but they could make them ill..and no education, seems like the parents not thinking about their future..
wow, I wish I had of saw it....

I was surprised at that too. Isn't there any laws in the states about keeping your kids out of school. I mean they had no friends, nothing. The boy looked to be about 14 and the girl 12 or so. I felt sorry for them. The boy was so emotional you could tell it was taking a tole on him.

There are laws in all states regarding school, but you can always remove your child from school and say that you are homeschooling your child. The law protects your right to homeschool. That is how they get around sending their children to school.

They live out in the country so I am sure they are homeschooled? Plus the family has their own farm so I am sure they are killing their own animals. Therefore, they can control how it is killed and if the animal is sick then they aren't going to eat it. I am not sure if it is weird because I think each person can live how he or she wants, but I am still wondering why the parents didn't let them go to school. It was a little sad :(.

OMG... and children's services didn't come out after hearing about this behaviour? WOW!
My sister was talking about it.. but she tends to exaggerate so I honestly thought the whole "rancid, rotten meat" thing was a bit of a stretch. LOL Guess not!
How horrible!
I tend to not watch wife swap because I feel like they just put such extreme opposites together just to see a blowup happen. Although I must admit when I DO stop on the channel I end up watching! LOL

Well I think that is definitely their intention to put extreme opposites together cause it makes the show more interesting and ratings will soar. If they were too much
alike I wouldn't watch it.

Eww, that is totally disgusting. Having to eat raw meat in such a dirty environment makes me feel like I'm some kind of cannibal in prehistoric times.
Were these people healthy? I haven't really seen the show honestly speaking. But I'm more worried of their health. You can really get sick by eating raw meat. You've also mentioned how crudely they store their food which might invite a lot of bacteria. Oh my, they could get a hell lot of contaminants on their food. That would be bad.

The city wife actually made all of them go to the doctor to get checked out. You never really get any of the results though. The farm dad did tell the doctor that since the family switched to this diet none of them had gotten sick. I got the feeling that they have built up a quite a resistance to bacteria. They had a nutritionist come in to the doctor's office to tell them that she would never tell anyone to eat that kind of diet. The father kept asking her if she had proof that the diet was bad. I think he felt he "won" the discussion because the nutritionist said she had no research to say that their diet was harmful.

Oh wasn't that just plain gross. I would have just had to quit if it was me and I got sent to that farm. There is no way I could eat or even stand to smell the food they ate. And as for brushing my teeth..well I think I would have to pass or just use plain water. I know for sure I would have lost a bit of weight..I wouldn't be eating period..lol Then the "High Meat" what in the world would make someone think that eating 4 month old raw meat was a treat...omg.
It was quite entertaining though. I think my favorite was the "Jesus Warrior" Now that was funny.

While I cannot comment on their lifestyle as they looked fine to me and I don't think they looked their age. I would say that I could not eat raw chicken or pork. I don't eat beef because I don't like its taste. I have eaten raw fish like in sushi and such. I don't think I would eat a raw egg, but I have eaten raw cookie dough which has eggs in it, right? Well, there was an interesting discussion on another forum about the raw food lifestyle. I think many people follow it and if you want to see the discussion you can go to forum.wordreference.com and look under the culture section. Have a nice day and a big PLUS positive for you :)

I didn't see it but I recently had a close friend get cast for an episode of this show. I grew up with her. She's a very strong woman with a good heart, but I can already see in my head who they are going to put her with and she's going to tear him apart! (And truthfully, I can't wait to see that episode.)

I saw it and it was interesting to say the least. I can understand the raw food thing as there is that whole raw food movement. Most raw food eaters limit it to fruits and veggies, but I guess these people just take it to the extreme. Cleaning your house is a MUST. Black mold can kill you and the fact these people live in such dirty conditions is just unbelievable. Of course the other family has their quirks too. They were more normal, but the fact that the mother had actually gone tanning before?! And the dad being a part time stylist was just a bit off to me.

I haven't seen that Show before - although from reading your description it seems I'm better off for it lol.
How can anyone eat raw meat like that , and then save it in a Jar for like 4 months?
And live in a house that has mold growing everywhere because they don't believe in cleaning?
It sounds like something from Fear Factor lol ... "Whoever can live and eat in this house the longest wins the grand prize!" I'm not sure there'd be a winner!

I did see it. I thought that the government regulated kids going to school. It didn't appear that they were really home schooled in any manner either. I have to wonder what posseses some of these families to apply for this.

I know some people are into the raw diet thing, but I am definitly not. I would never eat raw chicken.
I couldn't believe they would eat the moldy food.
The kids did seem almost brainwashed over it.
You never heard them say their own opinion over it, just restated what their parents said.
I also think that the whole no school thing is wrong.
Arn't you supposed to want more for your children?
