In my experience, dogs love their owner even through abuse and neglect. Cats CHOOSE to love their master. I've seen cats that show more loyalty than dogs also with loving everyone; not just their master. LOL But then, My cat sees me as HER pet :)

Great response! I never considered it, but after you stating it, I think that Dobby must believe that I am here purely for his entertainment. Maybe I too am my pet's pet! lol :-)

cats are actually independent creatures but they are very territorial so if you treat a cat right the cat stays just like gafield (^_^) happy mylot day.

I think dogs are more loyal. They want to please their owners no matter what. Cats, I think, are more aloof and care more about themselves.

I don't think cats are MORE loyal than dogs, but some cats are AS loyal as a dog. I remember the guy who got sick & his cat called 911. I've got one that just goes around the house accusing the roomie that she's murdered me if I go out of town over night, or even just for more than a few hours. No, they don't bring you your slippers, but they are CATS after all!

I agree with the first responder. Cats are not more loyal than dogs, but they can be as loyal as one. I currently have a lap cat (a first for me!). He is loyal to me in the fact that he will actually come when I call, though he prefers to hear his name sung. Whenever my family travels, we always try to take him with us. Going to grandma's house is a treat for him. Its a 3 hour car ride, but he doesn't mind it as long as you allow him to nap on your lap. Whenever we do take him anywhere, he won't go hide anywhere. He stays directly underneath you.

Hey there areent we making a graet mistake by comparing two personality types. CATS ARE EQUALLY LOYAL. They are the most loyal..yeah they are smart but then everyone has to be right?? i remeber my cats coming to me and getting my stress levels down
