Do you recycle?

Ever since I got married, I've been a huge recycler. I think I feel like I'm throwing money away if I throw away my cans without recycling them. Especially since I'm paying taxes on them, and recylcing them gives me back the tax money that I paid for them. Does anyone else recycle? Or do you just throw your cans away in the garbage?

There's more to revcycling than cans, bottles, plastics and paper... If you have clutter and/or items around your house you dont want to be bothered with selling or taking to the dump - then Freecycle is for you at www.freecycle.org for a Freecycle group in your area. Freecycle is international. Recycle items to avoid overfilling the garbage dumps and make space in your home. One man's trash is another man;s treasure" truely applies here. I have given away so many things that I almost trashed that someone wanted and even came and carted it away. You can put in requests, too, and from there I received a free handicapped electric lift recliner worth over $400.00 someone didnt need anymore! The only requirement is that you cant give away forbidden items like explosives and such and everything must be FREE, you cant barter, exchange or sell. Try it yourself!

I always recycle! I try to be environmentally-conscious, and it really bothers me to see people who just throw out everything instead of separating their waste. It's incredibly easy to separate trash and recycling! We should stop being so lazy and think about the future health of our planet!

I do not, I leave that for the paid employees at the local dump and the homeless people who dig in the garbage. I don't mean that snotty either. I just don't have time or the room. It's crazy though, my father started alumnum can recycling in the mid-seventies. If you look at my profile you will see his business names. He sold his aluminum to Toyota (1980 to 1985 models have my fathers aluminum) and RJ Renolds Inc!

I remember when recycling first began. It was a great day in the life of humans. I recently watched a TV program that reviewed recycling and it's effects on the land, costs, materials, processing, etc. I thought how wonderous it was that all the great new inventions that came about because of the idea that certain things are resusable. I truly believe that recycling has kept the price down on products. Sometimes I ponder over those things that aren't being recycled. It is sad that in todays world, a lot of people, are in too big a hurry to recycle. How sad, for us all.

I usually recycle...but sometimes I have to admit I get busy and just throw some stuff in the garbage because it's close and easier. I really have started to make an effort to collect my cans and bag them for recycling....

For Cans , i will try to put into thoese recycle bins if avaliable ... as for Newspapers i will sell it to the 2nd hand collector who will pay us a few cents for tonnes of old newspapers yea ... but i guess what i call recycle yea ... I feel that japan idea of giving Credits in transports fee if you put all your recycle product into a recycle collector machine ...is really great idea and motivates people to recycle more ....it also helps the poor

There is no choice her but recycling it is mandatory in our city. If you don't recycle you would get a fine. I think they made the right choice. That way we have to take care of our country. More city should mandate this.

It's good to know that a lot of people here recycle. We also do recycle. We have a bag where we throw our papers and sell them again per kilogram basis. The cans and bottles are also collected and we have them sold. The amount is very small, but it helps the mother earth

I always try and recycle, but the point made earlier about the high cost of recycling in real terms is valid. For example, why recycle cardboard, it's made from THE renewable resource... We need to have far stricter standards for wrapping and containers (e.g. the loaves of bread that come as a sealed bag inside another bag!). That deals with the problem at the source, and saves the added cost of making and shipping all the unnecessary packaging...

Yes I recycle. Here in iowa we get 5 cents for them. We have to pay it when buying the pop so why not get it back when we are done. I also pick them up from the side of the road and after concerts. I then save that money in a special account. I had over $3000 at one time because of it. I've also started saving cans without refunds on them. I called and I can get 40 cents per pound. It will take a long time to get a pound though. I would much rather have the 5 cents per can.

I've always been big on recycling. However, there is a show called Penn & Teller: Bullshit! that really got me thinking, and since I've seen the show on recycling, I've done a little bit of research and tend to agree. Recycling ends up costing MORE in most cases rather than LESS! You figure that the plants that process recycled goods cost energy, and the trucks that pick them up do, as well. Plus, recycled plastics rarely go into making plastic bottles again. They are used for making things like shoelaces!!! Also, since we as a society consume a lot of paper, there are entire FARMS dedicated to trees that are just used for paper. Most of the paper we use now a days does not come from the rain forest, it comes from trees planted just for using in paper. Which means that the more paper we use, the more trees are planted! I still recycle, just because I feel like I'm helping in some way. However, there are better ways to save the environment, like not driving as much and making sure to save electricity in your own homes and offices. Every little bit does count!

We always recycle. Our apartment building has different garbage disposals for different things and it always makes us angry to see them not being used properly. It doesn't take much to separate your garbage. We do it whenever we throw something away, such as cardboard in one box, newspapers in another, and cans and bottles in yet another. The cans and bottles are a huge thing because we pay a recycle tax on them when we buy something like that anyway, so really it's common sense to return them. I hate people who can't be bothered to separate their garbage. It takes second yet they're too lazy to do it.

I recycle too! it's very im portant if we want to preserve the health of the planet, most of all because it's something very easy and quick to do. In Italy the government doesn't give us back the tax money, so recycling is something left to our conciousness; but i am quite happy to say that in the last few years recycling cans, glass and plastic became very easy to do and quite comfortable too.

Recycling in our country, Philippines, is not a priority. So even if you segregate your trash and save cans and bottles, when the garbage truck comes along, they will just dump all of our trash on the same pit. Even if you go to a junk shop to sell your accumulated newspapers, bottles and cans, you'll barely get a dollar. I only reuse stuff if my kid sister has a project in school. I believe that without a nationwide, government-backed effort, recycling not only in our country but on other countries as well will be futile.
