what you felt most likely weren't the normal side effects of your anti-depressant. i haven't taken anti-depressants so i don't know the usual side effects when you take one. you may want to consult with your doctor as early as possible.

It may or may not have been the med, but it's not out of the question that it was. Like, with me, Cymbalta made me gain A TON of weight when I wasn't even doing anything differently. It slowly increased my appetite, but not all that much...
and the doc said Cymbalta almost never causes weight gain. I've talked to some other people who've taken it, though, and I think that the docs need to test this more carefully.

Ok Sweet I am on different ones from you and on stronger ones, when I first took them I was going dizzy, tired and could not focus on anything at all. Now they make me tired and nothing else so I take mine at night. Your Side affects are actually severe there and if this happens tonight then please go to the Doctor as they are not supppose to be that severe. Promise to go straight to your Doctor if this happens again.

If you read my earlier post to you when you were prescribed to them I mentioned that they might be hard in the beginning getting your body used to this medication. I have taken antidepressents many times over my life and the first 2 weeks it takes your body used to the medication. You will probably feel very tired for the first few weeks in the morning, you might try taking the medication in the early evening (not so late) and it might make you feel better the next day. Other than that, I would check back with your doctor (not knowing your medical history) to make sure everything is online for your depression. But sounds good to me. Hopefully soon you will see a noticable difference in your depression. Take care

I also take antidepressants and I haven't had any side effects. Maybe it's good that you consult with your doctor and explain what is happening to you. It's best that you take the medicine earlier than 11:30 pm because you will give it time to work for you.

Excellent point...I forgot about my insomnia issue, too. Not only is it best if you take your meds in the AM, but many of them have the side effect of keeping you awake at night.
On the other hand, the one my aunt's on just tends to make her sleepy, so she takes it at night.

Hi there, I don't take anti depressants but it sounds as if you need to contact your doctor. The experience you described sounds scary. Please call your doctor. Perhaphs you need to have a different medicine. I hope that you feel better soon.

Oh yes you have to be very careful of some of the anti-depression tablets out there I had my friend and she took some anti-depression tablets and had the same affect as you did. I used to be an ant- depression as well but I won in the end and have been free for 5 years now. I would go back and see my councellor in regards to this problem and hopefully they will change the tablets.

I know what you mean exacly. When the stomach hurts, it's so painful, and you want to kill yourself. I had my stocmach hurts a month ago, but then I went to the toilets, and it was alright. Did you try to go to the toilet? It may fix your stomach. What about a doctor or painkillers? Did you try one these? I am sure that they can help you, and then your pain will be gone.
Feel good my friend :)

I've been on a few different antidepressants in the last few years for my depression. I had bad side effects like that when I used Paxil and when they had me on Zoloft. Now they have me on Wellbutrin and it works absolutely great for me without any of the side effects that I had with the others. I know some people who can't use Wellbutrin and have better luck with the 2 I had mentioned before. Everybody's body responds differently to different things including medication. What might be a godsend for one person may be a complete nightmare for someone else. I'd call you doctor if the side effects continue to be so bothersome to you. He may tell you the effects will go away within a few more days of treatment or he might have you try something else. There's a huge realm of antidepressant meds out there. Godd luck.

Hi Megan, Sorry to hear about your reaction to them, I think I put in your last discussion about taking medication, there are quite severe side effects. Not sure how long they last as I threw mine away! Hope you are feeling alot better now though!

well i know of other people who have been on anti depressants as well, and i haven't heard of any who suffered such bad side effects. It might be that medication is causing some sort of allergic reaction on you, or simply that that precise pill is not adequate for you. I would talk to the psychiatrist/doctor who told you to take them and tell him what's up and he might have to change the pills that you're currently taking.

hiya lightninstrike, this reaction only happened once, so i decided after it had happened that i will still take another tablet and see how that day/night goes on and to see if it hapened again, but no it never and im alot happier now, it only happened once so i think im fine with taking them now! anyway thanks alot for responding and sharing with me! +++ :)

I was going to say 'Are you sure it was side effects?' because all that showed up on the initial post description thingy was the fear. :( But wow! Yeah, it definitely sounds like you had nasty side effects!
I've had bad stomachaches on Effexor XR (tragic, because it otherwise worked so well!) and gained a brickload of weight on a few diffferent things. It seems like every anti-depressant I take makes me dehydrate quickly, as well.
Anyway, your doc should deffy hear about this. Sounds like you need a different med!

I take a different kind of anti-depressent then you do and I have had the tingling of the face, that only lasted the first week. The rest of your symptoms I have not had and if it were me I would take them again and if the same thing happend then I would go back to your doctor and tell him what is happening. Mine also made me gain weight and this was not supposed to be one of the side effects so it just goes to say that things will not affect people in the same way. You will for sure want to be checked and have them try a different kind if this does continue to happen though.

This sounds a bit too much of a reaction to me. I have been on anti-depressants on and off for years, and have not had that reaction. Side effects can be experienced, but they would want you to stop the tablets straight away. Then get to a Doctor asap.

Please check with your doctor at your earliest convenience..side effects can be varied...allergic reactions can be fatal...a person can develop an allergy to a medicine at any point in time..for instance you can take a medication for 1 year without problems and suddenly develop an actual allergy..never assume that it is normal to have these reactions..you should always have Benadryl on hand to take in case you do have an allergic reaction and it gets worse...any swelling around or in your eyes or mouth is a sure sign of a bad reaction.. call for help and go to a hospital if this happens..your throat can swell closed...if you aren't allergic ....you may experience symptoms that will go away within a few days or weeks of treatment...but if things persist you may have to change medications...PLEASE talk to your doctor about the symptoms...It could save your life...everyone is different and one side effect that is minimal for one person may be fatal for another...Be aware and be smart...

I use to be on anti depressants and from what i can recall it takes like a week for ur body to get use to them. I use to take mine in the a.m. I was on paxil. Do u take them the same time every day? I know that is important.
