are much too high? I have a few leftover rubber stamps that I'm trying to sell. They aren't high ticket items, and by the time I pay ebay and paypal, I have very little left over for profit. If I had to buy new stamps, I couldn't afford to make it.

I must admit that I try not to pay attention to the amount of the fees. I just look at the end result of how much money is in my Paypal account. It'd depress me to know that selling something for $2, I end up getting to keep maybe $.50.

I think a lot of people sell antique, collector type items too, which require such high bidding and more stringent rules, in the mean time the little people just trying to sell other ordinary type things find it hard to do just that after applicable fees. Also, you only get one freebie picture to take and after that you pay for each. Also, when I tried to place my items on the featured list, it was thrown in with thousands and thousands of other so called "featured items" which was really deceiving, because my item was on the last page of these "featured items" the whole point was for my item to be placed on the front page, or front listing??!!! I was really frustrated too, so after a month of trying to list my item and wasting more money, I just said forget it....

I agree with you their rates are high, once upon a time I was also planning to list my items after registration but after seeing their rates I dropped the idea.To increase your profits you can do only one thing that is to raise the prize of your rubber stamps.

Yes, I think ebay and paypal fees are to high. I don't think they were to bad at one time. But they keep raising them. So unless you are selling alot of stuff through ebay or selling high tickets items. You really don't make a profit.

The fees are a result of the success of Ebay, who can now charge a high fee because they have a good reputation as a site. If you are using Ebay it usually pays to wait for the days when they have special offers such as free listing or half price days, although it often means accepting a single day listing.

The fees have really gotten out of hand. We shut our Ebay store down,it was becoming too expensive.

I agree that their prices are outrageous. I've had to trim down what I do and don't put up to sell on there, and mostly start things at 99 cents now, and only if I'm relatively sure they will sell. Also, as much as I detest the idea, I've had to start padding the shipping and handling just a touch (not massively enough that its cheating) to cover ebay and paypal fees. The really crazy thing about it is they both go to the same company now, as ebay owns paypal.

Honestly, I try not to pay attention to the fees. I just started selling stuff that I've found around the house, so if I sell it for $10 and end up only keeping $8, that's still more than I had to start with, and my house is a little less cluttered.

I think the fees are way too high. I have had to stop selling as I am making such a small amount of profit these days it is not worth the effort. Have you tried ebid? I have been told it is cheaper to sell stuff on there, but I know it isn't as popular as ebay. Also have you thought of selling them as one big lot instead of on their own as you will have less fees.

I think it is too high. once the buyer pay you . the paypal will cost some money too. then you have nothing to leave. then i think gain the item is better than gain the money.

I am one of those rare species in the world who has never sold or bought anything through ebay. I have heard my friends talking about paying very high fees there when they haven't sold anything. I always thought that ebay only charged for sold items but guess that's impossible.

Small ticket items are just not worth selling on Ebay any more. Have you tried selling some of your things on some of the other auction sites? Powersellersunite.com list a number of auction sites, several of them free.
