I'm new to mylot and have just added Mother as one of roles in my life. I'd love to meet others so I thought this may help us to get to know one another a little better.
I'm Tricia, from Hamilton, ON, Canada. I have 2 grown children. Rob is 29 and Kris is 26. They are both wonderful caring and friendly people. Rob is an aspiring actor living in Toronto and Kris is the Assistant Manager at a local cafe. They are both single and living with roommates of the opposite gender. The roommates are also wonderful, caring people who I am pleased to have my children living with and as such part of my life.
I'd love to hear about your children.

Hi Jessica. Thanks for responding. What great names girls have these days, your daughters names are lovely. Three girls that close is much like my sisters and myself. I don't envy you when they're all teenagers. LOL But that's just getting ahead of ourselves. Enjoy and again thanks for your reply.

Hi Tricia,
I'm new to mylot as well. My name is Jessi I am 23 and the mother of 2 girls. My oldest Jazlyn is 4 and my baby Juliana is 6 months old. My husband Jason and I live on the eastern shore in Maryland(USA). I am staying home with the girls until Juliana is at least a year old but possibly longer. I am also a part time student majoring in pre-law.
My girls are quite entertaining and already have a deep bond, I'm not sure which one adores the other more, I've never had a problem with Jazlyn trying to hurt Juliana and she doesn't get very jealous of her. I'm glad they are so involved with one another because we aren't having any more children. Two is enough for us lol.

Hi Jessi. Thanks for responding. You're a house full of J's! It sounds like you're very ambitious with two young children and part time school also. Good for you.
I was in university when my children were around that age. As a single mom it was a very busy time and people always asked me how I could manage. I didn't understand why they asked so much. I was young and just didn't know how busy I was. Now I get it.
Enjoy your girls and all the best with school.

Aw thanks Tricia!
Yes we did the J thing on purpose. Not originally though, we just liked the J names better for a girl with Jazlyn, and once we did it the first time, we had to to it the second time lol.
I don't know how you went did all that as a single mom either, there is no way I would be doing school if my husband wasn't very supportive. I guess when you need to get something done you find the strength right?
My mom was a single mom as well as my grandmother and I have so much respect for them for that.

Hi! I am from Lincoln Nebraska.
Please forgive me for posting in your discussion when I tell you that I have no children. I guess my children are our five cats which you can see in my profile.
One big reason I wanted to post in one of your discussions is because I want to thank you and send a warm hug your way because you made my friend nrnotrare happy with a response you made in one of his discussions. Anyone who makes him feel good gets my approval and perhaps some other rewards which I can not mention because of the rules. I bet you can figure it out.
Thanks again Tricia!

Thanks so much for posting. I'm sorry that I have taken so long to respond. I didn't have a very good experience here at mylot and have stayed away and just this week decided to give it another go. I'm very happy to hear of your cats, I have three myself and I know they are often treated like my children. I thank you for your kind words and gestures.

My oldest Brittany is 17 yrs old and a beautiful girl, then I have Brandon, my stepson he is 11 almost 12, then come Christine my 11 yr old who at the moment is driving me crazy. Then comes Billie my 9 yr old, who is just a happy go lucky girl, and last but not least is my baby Riley who is 8 yrs old and my little soccer star.
I hope you enjoy it here, I like to come and vent when I have a few minutes.

:) The Never Ending story was a favorite book of mine, that's where I got the name from. I love being able to stay home with my sons, they're a lot more fun than most stuffy adults. *laughs* I probably haven't written anything that anyone would know about, mostly just articles published at http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/13079/summer-minor.html Though I have a children's book that I'm working on right now, hopefully it will be finished soon.
A doula is a support person for a woman during labor and birth. i comfort her and support her and if she needs me to i stand up to anyone who may try to disrupt her birth. There are some doctors who are more worried about their pay than the mother and baby's wellbeing, so I say no when she cannot. But mostly I just massage her, get her food, and help hold her.

Hi, Tricia. I'm Deena. I'm 39 and I live in PA. I am the mother of four children: Sasha is 21 and is in college, Anya is 16, Kassie is going on 14 and then I have my baby Zachary, who is one and a half. I work (by necessity, not by choice) as a teacher in a public high school. My husband is a Canadian and in fact we lived in Quebec City for eight years, and two of my children were actually born there.

Hi Deena. What a spread of ages you have. Teachers are so very important, and at a high school can't be easy. What do you teach? Thanks for keeping at it even if only by necessity.
You lived in Quebec for 8 years? Did you learn French? My hubby is from Ottawa and although he doesn't speak French he understands quite a bit of it.
I've always wondered, the children who were born here do they have to choose a citizenship to keep when they turn 16? Do you have any plans to return?
Sorry I'm so full of questions. :)

Hi Tammy. Thanks for responding. Being a single mom can be a challenge but I'm sure you're up for it.
My best suggestion is to include them in daily living. Don't try to do all and be all. Let the children feel responsible for helping you with the day to day stuff. It doesn't take much but from personal experience they learn so much that is helpful later in life. My children thank me for this on a regular basis.
I hope to hear more from you in other discussions.

Hi Tricia, I'm a mother of boy/girl 13 month old twins! We live in Vista, California. I absolutely love being a mother and was blessed with twins to top it off. Thankfully my husband is very supportive and helps out tremendously! It is so much fun to watch them develop into little people. Their personalities amaze me everyday and it blows my mind how much they learn so fast. I feel like I can hardly keep up. But I know they will be smart, determined individuals and cannot wait to see the direction they choose in life.
You sound like you have wonderful kids (adults), good job!! I can only imagine how proud it must make you to see your hard work pay off.

Hello mizcheekz. Thanks for responding. Twins! Wow I've always thought what a handful that would be. How very lucky that your husband is supportive and helpful. At 13months I'm sure you're seeing/have seen an awful lot of development. Yes they certainly do learn fast. Do you see a lot of similarities or more differences between the twins?
Yes, I am very proud of my children but it's not until someone points it out that I even think that it had anything to do with my hard work. But I'm hearing more and more from both of them that they are grateful for what I did teach them.

Hi Marnie. Nice to have a response from someone from Ontario. Your children's name are different. I imagine it's quite cold and snow covered in Thunder Bay. We're having snow this morning to add to the whack we got last week. Please bring on spring!

Hi Kari. Thanks for responding. What lovely names you're girls have. What a handful of youngsters you'll have when the new one arrives! I'm the oldest of a similar group - my sister is 13 months younger and the next one is 2 and 1/2 years younger than me.
Homeschooling is wonderful. I wish that it had been more prevalent when my children were small. It's definitely something that I would have loved to do. It's always a good time to teach someone to cook. I did the same thing with my children and now my son loves to cook and my daughter is just beginning to try making new things like sushi herself.
Enjoy yourself and your children.

Hi everyone! I just signed up today.
My name is Fallon and I'm a new mommy to a beautiful baby girl, Nola. She's 3.5 months old. She's the light of my life. Currently, I stay at home to take care of her. Before I had her, I managed a textbook store for the university here.
Although my role as a mother is a new one, it has definitely been the most rewarding one thus far in my life. In my short 24 years, I've found nothing that compares to being a mommy!
