How do you choose you friends on mylot?

I don't have a lot of friends yet here on mylot, I also haven't asked a lot of people to be my friend. When I do get a new request to be someone's friend, I usually look at some of their discussions or ones they've replied to so I can see if we have some of the same interests. I don't want to have just a list of friends, just to have a lot of friends. It's not that I'm picky or stuck up, I would just like to have a quality friends list. That way maybe we can have quality discussions. Sometimes I get a request and I really don't know why they've asked me, they may have responded to one discussion, but that doesn't necessarily mean we have common interests. How do you decide who to approve or who to deny?

I ask people to be my friend if they have similar interests to me and sound like they will be likely to find my discussions interesting and give me good comments.
If people ask to be my friend I always accept them as I find it easier answering discussions from ones that come into my email that searching for them on mylot so I want lots of peoples discussions to come in for me.

I'm very curious as to exactly what a VEGAN is? I've heard & seen it around but am ignorant to the term. I suppose it has something to do with eating just veggies. Please fill me in. Thanks in advance. Happy postings.

If I notice someone keeps showing up with decent responses on the same discussions I respond to, I request them as a friend. I figure I might as well if we both keep responding to the same type of discussions.
If someone requests to be my friend, I check to see what kind of discussions they start and reply to. Right now, I do have 2 people pending on my friends list because I haven't figured out whether to accept them. I just want to be sure that someone hasn't signed on mylot & started requesting everyone to be their friend so they send spam private messages.

I haven't turned anyone down yet and nor do I 'check' them out. I wait and see how they turn out. I usually answer my discussions from my emails since all my friends are set to Notify ON. Since it appears to be broken today, I am trolling about and seeing how many I can respond to this way. I figure any that become a problem I can delete anyway. Have not had anyone bad yet. Made a few good acquaintances too. A nice surprise. Good luck with your friend list.

Hi and thanks for this topic. I choose friends by similar topics or great posts they have made. I make it a tendancy to read some of their posts before sending a friend request. I also try to answer a couple before hand. But it doesn;'t matter a lot. After awhile I go through my friends seeing what kinds of posts replies etc they have made to me or to other members sites then decide what to do. I've removed a couple so far. There was one who's sight was all about links for making money etc. I didn't want to see that all day so adios to that 1. HAHAHA. I've checked today & there are some on my list that haven't posted in days even though their site says they logged in last 1 hour ago. Then I have some that never comment on my site but they have great topics so I keep them to respond to the good topics they post. So I guess I'm kind of selective in my friends list. Thanks again and Happy Postings.

Another way I choose to add/delete friends is their tendancy to go back to comment on any comments/posts they have done as far as their list of friends go or comments made on my topics also. I always try to go back to discussions I've started or replied to & see what they have said then post another comment most times.I visit at least a few friends site daily looking for comments on my response etc. Sometimes one isn't called for but a majority of the time there is. Happy postings from Grandpa Bob

I do read all the comments left for my posts, I don't always reply, I guess in part because I haven't had a lot of time with mom illness and then passing. It's hard to think of much else right now besides mom. I do appreciate everyone's comments, and I enjoy reading what others have written, my minds just in a fog right now. Thanks for sharing Grandpa Bob.

I just approve them all, but I'm new here. They don't really bother me much -- I'm just a friend count to them. ;)
As far as choosing friends I look for somehone who is deccent, well-qualified, and has nice descussions. I don't mean has lots of money and drives a mercadies either -- I just want somebody who can talk with propper grammar!

Welcome newbie. I hope that once you're no longer a newbie that you get selective in the friends area here. I loved the comments you made. Funny yet to the point. Ya sound like me. I don't drive no Mercedes but really would like one. HAHAHA. Happy postings. I am sending a request because I think you sound cool so far. J/K HAHAHAHA.

A good way is to choose people who share the same interest you do.
You can also choose someone that always response your discussion. And try to choose active friends, that way you can share opinions in each other discussions.

I am fairly new and wondered this myself earlier today. I guess I will decide based on their content and if they seem to be responding to my content with quality. I think you can find a lot of doors that might open from people with different interests, so I will tuck that in the back of my mind as well. However, I am a huge believe in quality versus quantity, so all in all, I guess it will be a gut instinct.
