Comments to responses should get equal pay on Mylot.com

I spend a lot of time commenting on every response I get to my discussions. But it appears Mylot.com does not really place a monetary value on these comments. They should revisit this. Comments add a deep component to the simple discussion/response model and set Mylot.com aside from similar sites. This would also make the site much more attractive. I note that on days that I concentrate on comments tend to be days where my earnings are cut considerably. Again, there is raw economic value to these comments as they keep a given topic front-and-center for an extended period -- attracting more ad clients and, hence, adding to Mylot.com's income stream. Something to think about, please!

These are supposed to be discussions and that means ongoing interaction, doesn't it? I've responded to some posts that intrigued me, and that would be it- no countering response, no further discussion. Disappointing. I find myself responding to posts that do turn into discussions and quite often they are the same people I run into in other discussions.
You're right- and like you I comment to my responders. I would definitely like to see an official (money) support for people who follow through. thank you for bringing this up. And since you are likely to comment on my respond-would you answer something for me? It looks like a rating bar is shown beside the comments to responses area. Are the original post-author's supposed to rate their comments on responses???

The best point here, a classic "best response." Congratulations!

Even i do feel. I realized that we don't get paid for commenting even though we are required to comment upon for reputation. There should be considerable thought over commenting just like payment towards the discussions.
Again they say that you comment because you wanted to keep the discussion well rated and get reputation as if we are the sole people worried about getting responses to our discussions.

oh i agree with you completly they really should think about this. It is crazy that they dont. I have always done this but have lacked on it lately because i have not been here only a little bit lately. But i use to comment on every one that answered my discussions.

I agree with you. I think it is nice to comment on peoples responses because it is more friendly and shows that you appreciate their efforts. However sometimes I just don't have the time to do this if I'm going to respond to a nice lot of discussions as well.

I agree I comment a lot particularly in my own discussions when people respond and it is a bit unfair you don't receive anything for this as it does contribute to the community and make discussions better and more worthwhile. The fact we don't get paid for commenting seems to put people off and I've noticed in some discussions people who start them seem to never return. Which really defeats the object of starting a discussion.

As much as I agree with you from the monetary point of view, I guess this is the part where we contribute to the existance of the true community literally. So it's not all money based relationship between the members. To give a comment is a more personal bond between members as it aplies to them directly. Thus you build your reputation and subsequently gain more responses in the future, benefiting along the way. It's like myLot would say: "We pay you for everything you do here and for the reactions you get from others. But we don't pay for the effort you put in convincing people to react to you positivelly yet again and again." But come to think of it, if some get paid for writing just a line or two of complete nonsense, even though if not earning much for it, then it is something to think about, whether members should get paid for commenting on a response.

well, i agree with you... we have to give comment to people who response to our discussions whenever we can... but sometimes i just don't have enough time to do that... and may be you can suggest to mylot admin to place more monetary value on these comments and see what they say... please keep us updated... thank you...

I so agree with you.. Although they say right in the do's and dont's not to respond to all the reponses to yours..i feel obligated that since they took the time to do mine instead of someone elses..that i shoudl thank them.but if we want to add and make the discussion go farther then by all means i think we should be able to get paid..maybe if enough of us ask them..maybe they will change it someday?

They don't? I thought I read somewhere that they do. Like if your discussion is more active and has more responses and comments, your earnings would be more for that particular post? Yes, if people got paid more for their threads and comments, it will help keep the discussion up to date an active. But what's the point, most people reply without first scrolling through the first page of responses even.

People walk in to mylot with lot of expectation. But the returns are very less. It creates a less interest and also is not suitable for slow typers. the person who is a fast in typing and feels this topics interesting can earn . the slab for comments are too less.Mylot has to think and crdit some more amount as its time consuming and also trustworthy.

As far as I know, we get paid for one response and for one comment in a discussion. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if posting comments to responses in your own discussions wasn't taken into consideration in the myLot reputation rating shown in the stars.
MyLot DOES encourage commenting on responses, by making it possible to do so. People who are here primarily for good discussions keep discussions going. There will often be a large number of comments under one response, simply because people are having a good, courteous, and often humorous debate, and surely this is the essence of myLot?
I think the disheartening part of myLot is making a GOOD response to a discussion, and returning a few times to find that the poster hasn't acknowledged the response. Maybe even a small payment: even as low as a cent per ten comments, would encourage more participation.

Well, Mylot has its own set of rules to things.
And they seem to have a different pattern per person, the patterns are similiar, but alike enough for anyone to pin down what their true pattern overall is.
I get paid per one discussion I post a day myself. Not the comments I make on it afterword, and it doesn't matter how many discussions I post. I only get paid for one.
so *shrugs* it doesn't matter that much to me, a dollar a day or nearly that's a-okay by me. It just tells me to help others by replying, and not focusing on my own stuff too much. Which is what I've always done anyway..so it fits just fine.
I suppose I can't complain if they do, do this though. More money to them means more money to us..and I'm for that..but I won't be upset..or really care if they don't. I'll just go on with my previous plan./

I agree... maybe they can develop a point system like 2 comments = 1 response.

of course. this should be done because discussion is an opinion about a topic, however, comment is the response for a person. the persoon will know what people think about his writing skills, state of mind and mentality. hence comment should get an equal weightage with respect to a dicussion.
