We used to just use a thin comb and comb through someone's hair and kill each one thats been drag out by the comb:) After that, we shampoo our hair with some anti lice and at the same time get a white cloth or something to rub on soapy hair. You will see it will stick on the cloth too.:)

Putting Mayo on his hair and putting a shower cap on it and leaving it for a half an hour works. That is what the Dr. had my pregnant sister do to her daughter because my sister couldn't be in contact with the shampoo. He had her do it every other day for 2 weeks. If he got it possibly at school, they had her throw the coats, pillows, and bookbags in the dryer on high heat for a half an hour every time they were done with them. It did work.

A sure cure for headlice is "Licine". You have to apply it on your head and stay for a few hours and repeat the procedure after one week. It is very effective. Another method for those who don't like medicine is to keep the hair in a lather of soap for about 15 minutes everyday while bathing. You have to do this continuosly for 2 weeks without fail.

My daughter got lice when she was a little girl, it was going around the school and of course she just had to get it! Your better of going to the store and buying RID, you not only have to take care of your sons hair but everyone that lives in the house then you have to get the spray for your furniture and strip the bedding and wash it in hot water and spray the mattresses. Believe me it's a nightmare and alot of work. If you don't do it right as far as taking care of everything, there's a possibility of everyone getting it again then you have to do it all over again. Good Luck!!!

So much work has to be completed in order to eradicate those bugs. It was quite an inconvenience. I also place all stuffed animals and items that can't be washed into a garbage bag, tie it up, then keep it put away for at least two weeks before reopening. All of the stuffed animals can be tossed in a dryer with a dryer sheet for just a few minutes to "refresh" them.

I have heard that they hate heat so blow drying a while will help. I know someone told me that shampooing in alka seltzer works also. I dont know about that for sure.

My first suggestion is always a lice-killing shampoo. As they are designed specifically for this purpose. However, an interesting fact for me is that dog shampoo has the same ingredient in it that the lice-killing shampoos have. I have not tried the dog shampoo, but I might if I ever contract those buggers! It would be cheaper, I just don't know how safe it would be.
Next, if for some reason, possibly a pregnancy, you cannot use those shampoos, then I would suggest using olive oil as a mask. It smothers the bugs and kills them, also makes it easier to slide those nits off. This is tried and true!
As for the mayo treatment, I would be wary of leaving it on too long, as it can start smelling nasty quickly! And as with the olive oil, it can be quite a pain rinsing out of the hair!
