I used to work as a retail manager for a local discount store. After I had my daughter, I went back to work for about six months and I couldn't do it anymore. The long hours were just too much on me and I felt like my own daughter didn't even know me. My boyfriend gave me the option of staying home and of course I took it.
Since he had a good job, we were able to make it, but we had to cut back on a lot of the things that we were used to and we didn't really have anymore savings. So, I decided to not only stay at home with my daughter, who is now three, but I also work from home. Although, I try and only work at home at night, so that my daughter gets my full attention during the day.

i would 110% stay home! right now I get to be home most of the winter and only work the summers, about 30 hrs/week and my mom watches my son- but I totally miss him and can't wait until my husband gets a good enough paying job so that I can stay at home year round with my son.

I say stay at home because I do stay home with my daughter. I love that I can see her grow up and see all the 'firsts' she does. I go to school right now but I take all my college courses online. When I'm done with school it will be about time for her to start going to school herself so it works out.

I do stay at home with my children. Although I would like to be out earning money for them as I had being an unemployed single mum, I do think it is better for them that I am home looking after them.
Hopefully once they are both at school I will be able to get a job during school hours to get some more money for us all, but at the moment we able to live comfortably as we are.

I am really happy doing what I am doing at the moment which is being a stay at home 6 days a week and working on the other day, I just find that if I am at home all day I tend to get a bit bored and unmotivated but having that one day back at work I get to interact with other people and I find that I have a lot more motivation to get things done. I am lucky that my partner or his mum usually have our daughter on the days that I work so I am confident to leave her without worrying

I am a stay at home mom now. I haven't had a job in almost 5 years. I left a job I really loved to stay at home with my kids. I miss my job but I know that my kids need me more.

I chose to be a stay home mom just over 3yrs ago when I was pregnant with my 4th and last child. My husband and I decided that with how high day care prices are today that I would stay home with them. That is another reason I am here at mylot, to earn a bit of extra money to try to help my husband out.

I'm a stay at home mom now taking care of my kids. I choose to stay with them and resigned from my work. Because my husband is mostly working away from us. I rather I have eyes on them than to have nannies to take care of them since my husband is also noy here with us. But I'm missing my work...

If i have a choice i rather choose on staying at home and take care of my babies. I want to be a hands-on mom but right now i have no choice at all. I have to work for my family because i am the breadwinner of the family. right now. my two daugthers is being take care by my two nannies. Thats my greatest regret of my life that i will not be able to see my children grow and enjoy their moments.

Given a choice - I would definately stay at home, the whole idea for me of having a child is to be with it - not out working all the time.
Unfortunately, everyone has a different situation. I am working two and half days a week which is fine but like I say given a choice - no way 24hrs a day with my boy is what I would like!!

My son is grown now but when he was an infant I drove school bus thus I could take him with me! I think in today's world with the price of daycare and not knowing if you could trust the day cares with all the abuse going on I'd rather stay at home.
