What food do you give your dog/s?

My dog never liked dog food bought from the grocery, except for one particular brand which is a bit expensive. He loves to eat whatever leftover food we have especially meat and bones, with soup and rice. He eats bread too, but he won't eat it unless it's cut in small pieces. He's a brat!

My dogs get dried food mixed with turkey soup. Every so often I get turkey thighs and cook them with a very little garlic salt and dried parsley until the meat is falling off the bone, chop all the meat and freeze it in small containers, then I freeze the soup. It makes a lot and they get a little of each mixed with the dried food. I also bake all their treats except rawhide bones. Guess what I LOVE my dogs!!

Our boys eat the Golden Bits dog food we buy at the feed mill. We augment that with scraps from what we don't eat. They are healthy eaters and put on appropriate weight for winter and lose it in the spring. There is nothing that they will not eat that we have found.

I used to treat my dog like one of the family and I would make him a different dinner every day. When the vet asked what I was feeding him on, I told him that I gave him the same meals as the rest of the family. He then explained to me that dogs were creatures of habit and they should be give the same food every day - and yes, the expensive type. Well I bought the sack of the food but I still gave him little treats every day.

My dog loves people food. If his dog food isn't seasoned with people food, he looks at me like, "Where's the rest of it?" He has a strong aversion to sour food, anything with vinegar or lemon juice in it, so we don't always share with him.

My dog is very picky. She won't eat anything, unless it's the best. We have tried some cheaper foods, and she sticks her nose up at them. In a way thats a good thing though, because the cheaper foods lack on the vitamins and minerals. She loves soft and chunky canned food, but we don't let her have it but maybe once a week. She will eat table scraps, but we try not to let her have much of that stuff, maybe a chunk of meat every few days. The rest of the time she just eats her regular food. Usually Pedigree.

I am only able to give my dog a special kind of dog food now that she is old. I have always given her nothing but the best dogfood. She is a small dog and the vet advised not giving her table scraps. He said dogs digestive system is different than humans and some things we eat will cause internal bleeding in dogs. I gave mine a pork roast bone once and had to rush her to the vet she was bleeding from the pork marrow. That cost me over $100.00 so now I only give her dogfood. Never give them chocolate it can kill them. My dog would eat anything if I allowed it.

In my household my wife & I try our best to give BUSTER just dog food. Now my dad whom I care for feeds BUSTER everything he eats. I'm talking he takes a bite, puts more on the fork/spoon then gives BUSTER a bite. That's just gross. But dad gives him candy, ice cream, dinner, lunch, breakfast. Look at BUSTERS neck growth just from dads junk he gives to him in this picture. My wife works at a Middle Eastern restaurant & brings scraps home ever so often for Buster. Busters favorite food from there are the Leg of Lamb bones she brings home with a huge chunk of meat left on it. He will sit outside in below zero weather an hour gnawing at this. Thanks for a great discussion. Also thanks for being a friend too.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!

Lucky dog, to have food from the restaurant. Thanks for attaching Buster's picture. He looks very handsome and healthy, and not really fat. Happy postings to you too, Grandpa Bob, thank you for your response and good luck!

My dogs all love purina beniful. They love it. It is about $28 for a 40pd. bag, but they eat it, and it is good for them.
