I have read it all the way through, but its been many years. When I was a older child/teen I had a card that listed what to read each day to go through the Bible in a year. I know there are lots of resources available to do that. My current goal is to read through the New Testament again, which if you read 11 chapters every day would be possible in 3 months if I remember right.

You can get one of the 365 day bibles...it gives you an old testament reading, a psalm, a proverb and a new testament reading for every day of the year and you will read it in one year. Or, get a schedule of readings to read for each day with the goal of finishing in a year. Here is a web site with a schedule to go by

I think I have read it all.. but not positive.. as I never have sat down and read it from front to back.. I do have a schedule of my own which reads through the New Testament and the Psalms each year.. I think if one knows the basic outline and stories of the Old Testament that is sufficient.. although the prophets are important to read at least a few times.. As to all the questions and challenges to the Old Testament, each one has good and clear answers.. If reading the Old ?Testament, yes, we should read it all, so it is in context.. as some have read God's threatening words, not realizing the threats were against such things as child human sacrifice(s)..

I have read it through several times over my life. The first few times were because I was in private school. The other times, because my church made it a goal to read the Bible in a year.
What we did was read two chapters from the Old Testament in the mornings and two chapters from the New Testament before bed. When I got to Revelations, I switched to reading the New Testament in the mornings because I would have nightmares about being left behind after the Rapture.

Your goal is worthy of all Consideration. But do not stop once You gotten through it. Start again and You will find meanings that are different than the ones You have seen before.

You are so right. One time you may get a meaning and don't understand it, but as you go through it, you may see something else you didn't see before. Thanks again for your input.

Think of the Bible as a never ending fountain of refreshing water and of light.

I have read the complete Old Testament, but I haven't read the New Testament. I actually took a class, Understanding the Old Testament when I was at University. We were guided through it from a histoical and archaeological persepctive, and it was a fascinating read. I regret not taking the second follow on course, which wold have covered the New Testament.

My American friend sent me an English Bible and I love it very much. I find it very difficult for me to go on reading the Bible because there are so many new words for me, therefore I stopped reading, but I hope that I will start to read on when I am retired from work when I will be free enough to look the words up in the dictionary.
