I just recently watched a local program here showcasing filipino talents that became famous internationally, pinoys which were more proud having filipino blood. They became more popular from entertainment, sports, and fashion. I got some list of these celebrities that made name for themselves, and proved to everyone that we are world class caliber!;)
The likes of:
APL -Blackeyed Peas
Rob Schneider -hollywood comedian
Batista -WWE
Monique Lhuillier -fashion designer
Cassie -RnB singer
Mig Ayesa -filipino-australian finalist on Rockstar
Lou Diamond Phillips -hollywood actor
Tia Carere -hollywood actress
Vanessa Minnillo -MTV TRL host and correspondent
Enrique Iglesias -son of Julio Iglesias
Jasmin Trias -American Idol:Season 3 finalist
Nicole Scherzinger -Pussycat Dolls
We should also be proud of them, they are symbol of filipino world class talent. If you know someone else whom I missed on the list, please do share..
Thanks!;)

I was so proud to be a pinoy no matter how our not so good politics pull down our image as talented individual.
I think you forgot to mention the RICHEST FILIPINA IN NEW YORK which is LOIDA NICOLAS LEWIS which is a lawyer and the very first filipina to pass US law exam and now a multi billionaire in the US and one of the chairperson of many charity in US for less fortunate family here in our country.
I think aside from many artistic talents filipino have we are also professionally great and we really excel in the choosen field that we are into great example are the seafarers both officers and rating who exemplenary have great contribution to our economy as well as the patient and caring nurse and even doctors and how about teachers that are widely spread in US and Japan and the innovative mind of IT proffesional in Japan and also the sweet and talented voice of CALL CENTER PINAY agents in Malaysia not to forget the Skilled workers we have like welders, sewers, carpenters who are highly demand in new zealand.
I think they are not that well knowed but they deserve the credit for they contributed more in our country and they are reflection of every one of us unique, skilled, intellectual and most of all maparaan lol!!
Nice topic my friend.

Thanks for adding more of them!;)

Ahm.. You forgot, Lea Salonga, a certified Filipino talent, born, bred, and raised here in the Philippines. The ones you mentioned though Filipino's grew up outside of the Philippines and thus given much more opportunities than the ones here in Pinas, while Lea, who lived here in the Philippines, did tagalog movies, and plays. Although I am not in any way belittling the stars you mentioned and their love for the Phillipines and their talents, the ones you mentioned are stars and very much talented, I love Rob Schneider and Tia Carere, and I'm proud that they are proud to be pinoys, but I truly believe that the Filipino who broke the international barrier is Lea Salonga. correct me if I'm wrong please =)

I am sorry, but if you all just have read my examples, then you would all realize that I'm talking about a specific show show I saw at the tv. And Lea Salonga is of course, I know is the most popular from the start, but the topic was about those half-filipinos who were recognized and 'first' became famous abroad.
Lea Salonga was already 'made' here, while those I've mentioned were just a no-no when they started their careers.
Anyways, thanks for your time..

How abount including lanie misalucha, martin nievera, and lea salonga they are world class singers too. Josephine Enriquez, another singer, do you still remember her. Actually they are not all pure pinoy but atleast they admit that they are proud to be a Filipino and they consider the Philippines as their roots.

Haha. I noticed you like watching that show on qtv. I got to watch it yesterday, I never knew Julio Iglesias was half-pinoy. And Cassie! Apl really takes the cake, he brought Filipinos into the international hip scene.
I wonder why they didn't include Billy Crawford. Love the guy.

(I didnt know Enrique Iglesias is half filipino, hehe) May i also add thaT FILIPINOS are excelling even in the workplace. I have known of foreign employers who prefer to hire filipino workers for their companies abroad! Go, Pinoys!

This just show that some people's mentality are so negative, crab mentality is what I prefer to call it. They cannot please everybody, but I am proud that most of the foreigners appreciates their capabilities. Makes me also proud that they excel in their business..

Yeah I'm very proud to be a Filipino of course!
We have a world class talent. However, I recognize that these successful people are mixed and are not 100% filipino. what happened to the pure ones? Maybe having a mixed blood made them excel more in their chosen fields.
Overall, mixed or pure pinoy...be proud of your own!

My friend, you're only hitting the tip of the iceberg regarding the mammoth talent of Pinoys in the Performing Arts. Lea Salonga, for one, is world-class. And so is Nora Aunor, acknowledged as the Philippines' Superstar. It's long overdue, in fact, for the world to get awed with her outsized gifts as a multi-media performer: recording, television, film, and theater.
