i want to know if any people have died there hair and it turned out a different shocking colour????
i will tell you mne now, it was my 18th birthday and i needed to dye my hair brown again as i had bad roots coming through anyways because blonde is my natural colour, i decided i was getting bored of brown and put a blonde hair dye on my hair oh well here's where the fun starts!! so after the 45 minutes or whatever i washed my hair and i nearly died, i actually cried, LOL, my hair was a mixture of gold, ginger and brown ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh so i had to put a hat on and go out and buy another brown one, then i dyed my hair back to brown and it was fine.. phew i was relieved with excitment because it was my birthday and i had visitors coming haha!!
has anything drastic happened to you with hair dyes, if yes please come and share with me!
thanks to everyone who responds! =)

I feel for you , I`m naturally brown so I always go blond I just use a peroxide that the salons use to bleach it .
You may have to get a salon to do it professionally when you do want to be blond again .
Happy Birthday
I`m glad your hair turned out this time .
Enjoy your day ...

When I became 18, I was liberated. I finally got to dye my hair and I loved it. Now, I never put blue, green, or purple in my hair, I just did natural colors like blonde, dark brown, and red. My red now and I like it red.

Been there, done that!
I have been coloring my hair for many of my 39 years due to premature greying. I have only had one mishap in all the years I've been doing my own coloring. I have run the gamet of colors but this time I was bleached and was just adding a touch of blonde color to warm it up. After I did the application and rinse, I flipped my hair up after towel drying and my hair was neon yellow to a chartreuse. I swore so loudly that it had my husband running to see what happened, then laughed his head off. He got a F.U!
I promptly went back to my auburn colors. It's much easier.
Just a word for those that use color - not bleach - wherever you get your coloring you can also buy an artificial haircolor remover.

its best to go to a professional when you are going lighter. or doing several colors. the dyes in the boxes can only lift a certain amount. (so you cannot make your hair fall out),, lol! but its worth the money if you want a perfect color.

So when I was 18 years old, a few weeks from my high school graduation I decided that my natural blonde hair needed to be brown (since all my girlfriend's had brown hair) so I dyed it brown, well it turned out PURPLE, yes I said purple, had a nice purple haze to it, when my mother saw it she sent me to a hair dresser where I proceeded to spend an entire day and my whole graduation money to get it back to my natural color (which I hated) and proceeded to go out and buy a lighter blonde to put on top of what the hairdresser did. Took months to get it back to the natural shine that it once had.

Ok, here is my story. This did not happen to me, but to a co-worker. She is in her early 30's and wanted to add purple streaks to her dark brown hair. She had her husband doing the dye job. 1st mistake! ha ha
She came into work on Monday with fuscia pink hair! She looked like a childs cartoon character. Worse part is that she wore it this way for months, even though she knew we all were laughing at her. Her reply was that her daughter thought it was cool that she had pink hair. Her kid was 4 at the time. I personally would of been mortified to be dropping my kid off with HOT Pink hair. I would of called off work on Monday and spent the money to have my hair professionally fixed back to it normal shade!

My hair turned a little whiter after I was thirty years old. I was not bothered by it and when I was forty the white hairs got more. Others were bothered by the white hairs. One friend bought me a vegetarian formula comb on hair dye. No rinsing needed. All I had to do was to walk in the sun and my hair would turn black was what she told me. It turned an orangutan orange! Hahaha. Orange and black hair, no thanks.
I stopped using it. Thereafter I started dyeing my hair to get rid of unwanted attention.

bwahahahah! got any picture of it meg? i wanna see it, c'mon! lol .... same thing happened to my dad years ago. He was actually blaming me for turning his hair into orange. hehe. Cause you see, my dad got white hair and let me dye it with color chestnut brown. It didn't turned out the way he wanted it to be so he was fuming mad at me. . gosh! so pissed off that time. . . i was advised by a professional that u have to color your hair black first before coloring it to chestnut brown or same thing as you, two ways actually. .
... (",) hugs en kisses. tc!

Really, all I wanted to do was cover up some gray hair a little.
I used that squeeze bottle thingy and put the stuff in my hair and mixed it in.
I think the mistake I made was that I waited too long before rinsing it out.
I was using a light brown, which is my natural, color and being a guy, I guess I didn't know what I was doing.
When I rinsed it out, all by hair was 'dark' brown..
Wow! Where did the gray go?
Thank goodness I was on a two week holiday and it lightened quite a bit before I went back to work. I never would have heard the end of it.

One of my neighbors, about a year ago, got a case of psoriasis while dying her hair and it fell out in clumps. She went around with a kerchief on until it grew back. Now she won't color her hair at all anymore.
Another one of my neighbors is constantly changing the color of her hair and sometimes it comes out with pink stripes. She complains about how damaged her hair is, but she won't just leave it alone long enough for it to recover!
I read somewhere that if you want to tone down your (colored) hair, you should wash it with dandruff shampoo.

Since more than 15 years I cut all my hair by myself. I do not visit barber shop or saloon. I have unique looking glass and a nice scissor by which I can short my hair. Nothing is difficult or not I see bad after cutting hair. I think if all man and woman practice to cut hair at home then no problem., i wouldn't let my mother or anyone cut my hair except for my stylist. i have long hair and i get it trimmed occasionally. so whenever i do i i get it done from the beauty parlor.

My first hair dye turned my hair green when I was trying to get it a light auburn red,my sisters turned out the same way it evidently was the water that made it turn that way. We had to wear it to school like that and we got made fun of they ask us if I was turning into the incredible hulks girl. Lucky for us our mom got another dye for us when we got home. They called my sister the bride of the green giant. And another time I dyed my hair a red color it turned purple and no amount of washing it would change it I swear my hair looks like it iwas the color of a eggplant. And it got alot of attention to.. I didn't redye that one because all the kids loved that color. It took 8 weeks for the color to actually turn the reddish color it was meant to be. It was Garnier brand. Better then the bride of incredible hulk and the green giant though...lol

Yes I had a nightmare hair change colour, trouble is I didn't do it myself! That's where most people get into trouble, I actually went into a salon to have it totally bleached! As a child I had blond hair, sadly it went brown, so in my youth I was pretty adventurous and decided to get my hair totally bleached blond, however the colour turned out a horrid yellowy orange colour, it was awful, shocking and it got a lot of looks, I only did it the once!

Hi Megan, I've been dying my hair since I was 11 (Now 35) and I can only remember once having my hair it's original colour. As you can imagine in those many years of changing to quite drastic colours I've had some mishaps in my time. Two that spring to mind is once when I dyed my hair blonde I must have had metal on me as I had green streaks in it! A quick run to the nearest chemist to get some more dye was on the cards lol. The most recent disaster is about 5 years ago now I had quite long bleach blonde hair and in a fit of madness decided I wanted it black, all went well and I was quite pleased with it until I got bored and decided I wanted to be blonde again - BIG MISTAKE all my hair went carrot orange the worst orange colour you could imagine and no amount of bleaching would lift the orangey colour! Horror struck I cut off all my hair until it was really really short about 2 inches or so! Never again! LOL

Dying your hair in a lighter color only successfully works when the color you currently have is your natural one. Otherwise, it will become that mess. There are some tricks when you wanna do it even on top of your already dyed hair, but they damage your hair a lot.
It happened to me once, my hair got kinda orange. It was awful, but I was able to fix it!
