that you reused a coffee filter? I forgot to buy some yesterday and I was looking forward to coffee this morning. What could I do? I rinsed out the previous one and reused it. Guess I'm really, really ready for the weekend! :-)

LOL I have never reused a coffee filter but I have used a paper towel! The stronger ones, like Bounty and Brawny, actually do work!

Hi! I might actually get the chance to find out. I forgot to buy coffee filters again today! I'll just have to put a big note on the steering wheel of my car "Buy coffee filters" LOL

Yes! I found them at Target for not much more. I bought two packages so I won't have the same problem when one package runs out! LOL

I've never reused a filter, but I have done the paper towel trick. It works fairly well. Though, for the most part, I get by using these little Folgers instant coffee things. They basically a tea-bag, but filled with coffee grounds instead. Put it in a cup of really hot water, and I really can't tell much of a difference between coffee made with one of the little bags and coffee from a traditional pot. No clean-up, and it makes just enough, since I'm the only one in my circle of friends here on campus that really drinks much coffee.

Hi! Now that's a good idea, too! I don't know why I've never bought those. As long as they have them in decaf, I'm good to go! Thanks! :-)

Penfencer, I'll have to try that with my tea strainer. That way I won't have to make a whole pot.

I love it, too! I don't know if it becomes habit or just part of our lifestyles or what, but I would hate to have to go without coffee! :-)

Hi! Thanks for the concern. I do drink decaf since I can't tolerate caffeinated coffee. It's just the idea of a hot creamy drink I still love! :-)

Oh, sure. I've been so desperate, I drank yesterday's coffee. Or reused the grounds. Next time, you can use a paper towel as a filter. You just put it in and cut around to make it fit. It works perfectly.

After having been in the same situation I bought a coffee basket filter that fits all drip makers. You just rinse it out after each use. They cost about 3 or 4 dollars and I have had it for a year. I previously have used paper towels in desperation. The baskets are available at most grocery stores on the coffee aisle.

Hi! I'd never heard of that before! I'll definitely look for it the next time I'm at the store! :-)

Oh yes. I live to drink coffee. I have reused old used coffee grinds, when out of coffee. Now I make sure that I always buy a lot of beans, and I keep them in the freezer. As the bag gets low, I buy it again.

I've used a paper towel in place of a coffee filter when I have run out. It's nice because now my coffee filter is a permanent filter!

Hi! I just have to find one of those. Everyone keeps saying how much nicer and easier they are to use. Maybe Safeway has them. :-)

Yup! Been there and done that! As posters before have mentioned, I have also used a papertowel. Someone told me once that I shouldn't use papertowels that some of the chemicals in them are not meant for use internally ...but I figure the hot water of the coffee may do something bad to the chemicals! Not going to do without the coffee! I keep meaning to get one of the reusable filters that a previous poster mentioned and I always forget!

Oh my gosh yes! I am happy to say it has only been a couple of times but I have done it. I'm so glad someone else has done it ... I don't need to feel like it is my dirty secret any more LOL

My mom has done that in the past when I was growing up. I cannot drink or stand the smell of coffee so I haven't had that problem but I can certainly identify with you. I've done the same for other things.

Hi! I couldn't stand the smell of coffee when I was growing up, either. Whether my dad had coffee in the car or my teachers had coffee in their classrooms, it just made me sick at my stomach! I wonder if something has changed in the way the beans are roasted or something, or maybe we get much better quality coffee today than in past years. The aroma inside Starbucks has never made me sick at my stomach! LOL

I'd say that if it worked, more power to you!!! I think it's ingenious! I use a French Press so I don't need filters...it's a good thing. Just another thing to run out of..

Hi! Is a french press the same thing as a cappucino maker? I have one of those, too, but never learned to use it. It's also hard to find decaf espresso. :-)

Hi! I'm not much of a tea fan either, unless it's cold, like sun tea. I love to use flavored creamers in my coffee. Yummy! :-)

lol I hate to admit it but yes I have done that. I agree with the other poster and would suggest papertowels. Also what you might want to do, is to buy one of those permanent filter for emergencies like this. Also get a little jar of instant coffee should you run out of coffee. I have both so I am prepared for all emergencies and never have to suffer through a coffeeles day :)

Hi! You want to hear something funny? I have a jar of instant coffee in my freezer (to keep it from getting bitter) and I can't get the stupid jar open! LOL How stupid is that? Otherwise I could have just had instant! I will look for the permanent filters, too. That sounds like a really great idea. Thanks! :-)

Oh yeah. It can't be any worse for you then the coffee is, can it? I try not to worry about things like that. It must build up the immune system.

Could what be worse, not having the coffee? Sometimes it's not good to not have the coffee! LOL
