Do you try on the dress or shirts you like at the shops?

When you go malling or shopping and a seemingly great dress or blouse caught your attention, would you head on to the fitting room and try them on?Yes, I usually do that as I don't wanna go on grumping when I get home coz the new dress I bought just don't fit me well.
But my aunt once complained that she got smelly armpits after she went shopping and tried on a couple of dresses at the mall. She thought there could possibly be a shopper with a smelly armpit who tried one of those dresses before her and passed the bad bacteria to her when she tried it on.. uuummm makes sense though...:P
Have you ever thought of this one? or does it ever come to your mind that somebody with contaminating skin disease could have grabbed that dress before you and tried them on? or you just head straight to the counter after grabbing that lovely dress and don't care fitting them at all?do share your thoughts:P

I have a thing for not trying the clothing. I'm like your auntie. I can't stand the idea of someone who didn't really wear deodorant or had some rash and that it could contaminate the shirts or worse pants. EWW! I play it safe, I know my measurements and thus not need to worry about the clothes not fitting me. I also must wash the clothing that I've bought, before wearing them. :P

I rarely buy clothes and if I do I don't usually try them on as I know my size.
I don't really think about other people trying on clothes in the shop before me, probably a good idea really judging by what you said about it!

Yes I always try the shirt or trouser when I will buy that cause my body some time is not fit with the size which different brand and I have never really worried about who's been wearing the clothes I try on before I try it on, even if I am looking at used clothes. The only time I would ever think twice about this would be when buying underwear , I am not sure what I think of worrying about this , you can catch things from so many different places, and if you're worrying about what is on clothes, it seems like it would make equal sense to worry about all the other possible places, and you would go crazy just being afraid of germs,I am one of those people who thinks it is good to expose themselves to as many things as possible, because I think that it will build up my immune system and make me less likely to get sick and more robust against all types of disease.
And fortune till now i never got serious desease

I am a very thrifty person because i am on a tight budget so i usually shop at second hand store but if you are careful and take your time you can still find good stuff there too. When i do get the extra money to acutally be able to buy something new i want to make sure that it fits so i always try it on. I dont have the money to waist not too. But you aunt brought up a good point which kind of grosses ya out but she is right now i am not sure what to do. Maybe give them a smell before you try them on maybe.lol i dont know.

Most of my shirts are tailor made so there is no need for that.

I do not usually think of skin diseases, although I have a friend who tried on, and bought a new coat, and got headlice. She could not clear it up until she washed the coat. If I know I will be trying things on I try to wear tights and a tanktop under my other clothes, for ease in trying things on.

Ohhh Rexy, now that you mentioned it, it is gonna haunt me everytime I go to try something on...eww! lol I do try clothes on because the sizes vary with brand, so better to be safe than sorry. Poor aunt, what an experience..hehe! I haven't had such bad experiences yet....and PS: I'm gonna forget this here ...;o)

shirts i don't try them because most of the times they fit me! but the trousers needs to be fit because most of the trousers doesn't fit me or looking strange!
but now you are writing this, i never thought about it, and i better don't! there are so many examples where you better not think( like toiletdoors) because you cannot eat, drink, touch and wear anything anymore!

Haha, I try not to think about that stuff when I do try on clothes in the stores. I will normally try something on before I buy it, just so I don't have to return it if it doesn't fit. I will also try it on if I am intending to buy it. If I just see a shirt I like and can't afford it, I don't bother trying it on. It is kind of disturbing to think about though, about how many people may have tried that same shirt on...and who knows where they've been! Some people just don't have any sense of hygeine!

Yes, when I see something that I like, I will try them on to see if it looks good on me or not. And if it does not fit me or if I don't like the way it look on me or I don't look good in it, I will give it a pass. No use spending money on something I'm not going to wear, even when I'm alone!
And when I buy new clothes, I'll wash it before wearing it. My sis said that it is advisable to wash new clothes because there's bacteria. And yeah, since I'm sure there were lots of people who tried it on, too, it's much better to give it a good washing before wearing it.

That is always a concern. State health laws require certain things like not trying on bathing suits without underware but enforcement is less than perfect. That is why we try to check things before trying them on. Sometimes you can tell if the garment has been previously tried on, sometimes you cant. Then if we buy them, we wash them before wearing.

Um... is this a "for ladies only" thread? Because I only read dresses and blouses. :P
RIght, I am a guy but I want to try on my clothes before I buy them too. Clothes do not all fit. You have to try them because you know if you can wear them nicely. That is, if I buy them myself. Sometimes people will get them for me (despite me asking them not to do so) so I don't have a choice there.
I have never thought about the skin disease issue, never come across my mind. But gosh, now you are giving me the creeps... but what can we do? Surely we can't buy the clothes without first trying?
