Is racism a REAL problem in America, or is it mostly exaggerated?

Of course, racism exists, but is it as big a problem as the media and some politicos and people tell us it is or largely over-exaggerated?

I am sure it is very real, and still very much a problem. However, I'd like to add 2 tings: 1) I'm optimistic - in my lifetime I have seen a lot of change come with respect to people's attitudes toward race. 2) I think it's important for people not to adopt a self-defeatist attitude and blame "racism" for their failures.

Yes, I have noticed a lot of positive changes in the younger generation. It really doesn't seem to be a real issue, but not a glaring non-issue, either.
