Deadbeat parents featured on pizza boxes!

What do you think about this? Parents in Cinncinati, Oh. that do not pay their child support are now having their pics and personal info posted on the tops of pizza boxes at a local pizzeria! I think this is good in a way, but I can also see where in some cases that it would be very bad. For example: A clerical error! That could be very damaging to someone with a high profile career! What is your opinion on this? Have a great day! :-)

I hadn't heard about this (I'm in Cincinnati), I had to go look it up. It's not my county, pity... I've love to support any pizzeria that did it. :) Anyhow, YES, I think this is a fantastic idea. I think deadbeat "parents" (I use the term loosely) should be publicly shamed. There's no excuse for skipping out on a child you created. I hope other counties here (and other cities/states) do the same.

I love this idea. I know there can be error but I can live with one or so errors if it gets these dads to pay up. It is not easy raising one child let alone than more than one by yourself. My cousin raised her daughter alone because the father did not pay his childsupport. These guys and gals need to step it up. They made these kids now pay your fair share.

It's certainly a very creative idea to deter people from becoming deadbeats, or to punish those whom are. I do wonder what they do if they've made a mistake, though.

I heard this on the news yesterday and thought it was a great idea. Reminds me of the lost children and how they were posted on milk cartons. I think it is a great way to spread the word and catch up with some of these guys. I'm all for it and think it should be expanded to more states and areas.

I think it is a very good idea in a way if they could make sure that the person they are displaying is truly a deadbeat parent. I could see where it may cause some controversy also if they accidentally place a face on there that isn't a deadbeat any longer. I mean, the company may produce so many pizza boxes with these faceson there and just so happen one of those faces is no longer a deadbeat and they have paid in full but their picture is still out there all over those unbought pizza boxes. That would cause a major stir. I think the pizza compnay would be looking at a huge lawsuit.

I guess it might be a good incentive to not end up "like that guy" I do not however condone the practice. I believe that such detraction of character is undesirable even if the content is true. I think the word for it might be "Calumny" It is also an invasion of privacy and defamation of character (yes, even if true) I could see where the pizzeria may end up facing law suits over this. It was a little different when it was missing persons on milk cartons. There has a better way to encourage slackers to tend to their legal responsibilities.

The idea stinks. The child support system in many states is seriouly flawed. Although there exist fathers and mothers that just don't care about their children, true deadbeats, there are many more non-custodial parents that are victimized by the current system. If you are going to put pictures on pizza boxes, let them be pictures of the real atrocities that exist... but that wouldn't be very appetizing, would it?

If it were proven for sure that they were a deadbeat and a jerk, then yeah, I'm all for it and think it's a great idea. The father of my 3 kids has been a deadbeat many times over the past 8 years. He is paying a little now though. The court order is for a little over 6 hundred on three kids and he paid $50 for the week. We haven't seen that much or even near the court ordered amount for around 3 years. He left a good paying job where we live to move out of town to get a lower paying job. He said he just "wanted a change". I actually think the child support will stop all together soon, that's how he is.

I am sure they have to fall really behind in payments to make it on the pizza box. I would not feel sorry for them either, they should be embarrassed for not paying.

Although I'm sure there will be people saying it's a violation of privacy, I think it's a great idea. They would need to be very diligent in their record keeping so there aren't any mistakes and take people off the list as soon as they pay up. Probably the laws vary among states but here in PA some of the enforcement techniques are driver's license suspension, credit bureau reporting, passport denial, and publication of there name in a newspaper if they are more than 30 days behind. I hope my county is the exception because here they won't do anything. My daughter's father racked up almost $4000 in owed support. He claimed he was disabled and couldn't work, never provided medical evidence and worked at a private job the whole time. In the end he was ordered to pay $217, they closed the case when he still owed $85 and won't tell me why. He went around telling everybody he was paying the whole time, and of course they all believed him. Had his face been plastered all over pizza boxes, I think he would have at least been embarrassed into paying. My county workers actually told me that they couldn't enforce the laws because "it wasn't their job". I doubt they would do the pizza box thing either. Something like this really does need to be done. Too many parents are getting away with not supporting their children and it's the children and their responsible parents being hurt by it. Maybe if these "deadbeats" were put in the spotlight they'd try harder to get their act together.

This is a great idea! I have seen similar ideas like this but never on a pizza box. Just think how many people will see these people on a daily basis. Whoever thought of this idea is a genius!
