Imagine you were left a castle in a will. A big castle in the middle of the countryside, in the middle of nowhere.
What plans would you have for the castle?
Would you live in it, sell it? Open it to the public, make it a themed place for murder mysteries, use it as a night club, a party place.
Or have you got a really good imagination and can come up with an ideal plan for your castle?

My first choice would be for a chateau along the Loire valley .. but any castke anywhere would do .. just so long as it came with enough income to look after it and heat it ... and boy oh boy would I enjoy living there .. on my own of course .. preferably a castle with a moat and drawbridge so I could shut everyone out ..
Sigh .. wouldn't that be great .. just me .. a handful of cats and a leash of dogs .. I would be in seventh heaven ..

Oh gosh, I would certainly live in it. I dream about creepy old homes and castles. I am a big fan of the Victorian age. If I had the time and money I would turn into a grand home of classic Queen Anne style.

I would make it into a restraunt. I would have an area for casual dining and an area for formal dining...along with violin music and fresh flowers and the most wonderful deserts possible. I would add things for people to enjoy according to space. Great topic!

Oh yes - I would turn it into my home for stray, ill-treated, and unwanted cats! That has always been my ambition - if I won the Lottery or had money to spare, so a castle with huge grounds would be the ideal place. There would be room for the poor animals, self-contained flats/bedsits for the staff, and also a Vet' Surgery. I would have a "wing" there too! Cheers.

i have some reall bad memories of the countyside so could never go back! I would sell it buy my dream home in Cyprus and hopefully have enough money so i don't have to work so hard.
castles are usually very cold places and i'm a sun lover no droughty corridors for me.

Well, since I have always wanted to be a princess. i think a castle would work great for me. But of course there would have to be a lot more toads to kiss to find my prince. lol. But eventually I would live happily ever after. Just like Snow white did. Wolfie dont bring me any apples ok?? LOL
I love my life!! lol

I would open a bed and breakfast. It would surely draw a lot of people. My husband would just want to keep it for ourselves to live in.

Hmm...I am not sure. It would have to have something to do with books. In books you always read about the great libraries that castles have. I could just imagine the floor to ceiling book shelves.
But in real life, if I ever happened to inherit a castle, I'd never be able to afford to keep it...lol

Well for sure I wouldn't live in it. I am just not cut out to live in the country. I would probably hire knowledgable people and make it into a bed and breakfast! Many people love a weekend away in the country and I could provide that for them!

first of all it's in the middle of nowhere, what is it worth, castle as opposed to property, sell it to the highest bidder, and enjoy a lucrative life

I think I would live in it for awhile and explore
it on my own. Then I would sell it because the
money would be very useful to me now. If I made
it into something useful on my own and opened it to
the Public that would be too much work for me alone.
I would not want to spend all my time just trying
to make a resteraunt or night club work. I would
have to really think even before I sell it because
I am afraid to sell it to the wrong person.

I've always wanted a place in the middle of the countryside, so I'd live in a wing of it and probably turn the rest into some kind of retreat, where people can come to recouperate from stress/illness etc. and enjoy the countryside.

Oh for a castle - a wonderful fairy tale castle surrounded by a moat with a drawbridge in the middle of an enchanted forest! That would be my childhood dream come true! I think I would get lots of beautiful dresses in all different sizes, decorate each bedroom for a little princess and make little girls dreams come true by having them there for a holiday! There would be jugglers and clowns, music and dancing, candy floss and toffee apples and it would be fantastic!
