Importance of friends on myLot.

I was wondering how important you guys think it is to have friends on myLot? I notice the people with more friends get more replies to their discussions!
I only add friends when I think I like the person. That is why I have so few. I see people with 100+ friends N I know that they couldn't possibly like them all. I am willing to bet a lot of people just add friends so they have more of a chance to get their discussions read. So, should I just start adding random friends in order to get more replies to my discussions? This just not even seem right at all to me.
Do you think it is essential to have a lot of friends? Can anyone make it on myLot with a small friends list?

I believe friends are really important in mylot
The more your discussions get to be seen the more chances it gets to be answered to
But instead of adding random friends, why not pick people whom discussions you answered and you thought the topic was good, or people who answered your discussions and you liked their answer
Find people you can share thoughts with and it will not seem as random to you
When you come across interesting posts just check out the mylotter's profile and you can see if you can relate to them...
Good luck to you

rick you are really clearing things up for me! So, I should go and search for discussions that interest me, and maybe if I like the person in that discussion I could add them.
I usually just sit back and wait for the friends to come to me. Thx for input.

you are very much welcome
that's how I do it ... When I like what someone said I look into their profile to give me more details about them and if I still like it I ask them as a friend ... Sometimes I got friedns requests as well and I usually check their profile first before adding them just to make sure they don't start "unappropriate" discussions
Happy I could help...

Well if yout intention of adding friends are personal in nature then there just cant be much to be said since it is your personal standards that factors your choices. Just in any case it is for business or purely for purposes of myLotting then, i have this point of view, as of this moment which i cant guarantee will not evolve or change at any rate in time. For now im having prople in my friends list so i can conveniently locate them faster, especially those who have shown effort of responding to my topics with frequency. Im in the process of re evaluating my friends lists from time to time so i may comfortably & with better expediency in locating their topics that i may respond on to.
Its good to have many friends randomly picked here, but a futile effort in exercise. But one could not diminished the efforts of good intentions, miracles does happens, even here at myLot.
Im keeping my friends low at the moment.

I understand that you like to have friends for purely business like interactions, but surely some of your business partners have to become your friends. I'm not saying you have to make great friends with any myLotters, but I am saying that you just as in any community you make friends.

Well as we mature ourselves here in myLot, the next stage of the process of understanding people automatically follows. For now its best that as we get to know people better, things should be just at purely business level, until then. Keeps other concerns at bay & far more easier to manage also. This way as well, prevents one from taking advantage on both parties.
In credit to the topic, its good to have or at least be able to have good virtual friends beyond the glaring want to selfishly profit. For now its best we try to compliment each other & move on from there.
Thanks.

I dont have much time to really check people out. If you add me I WILL add you back a promise I swear! I do add people on occasion when they are new or share an interest and I want to follow what they have to say, etc. But truly I really dont care either way but I think its great sometimes to have friends on here.

I don't think my friends reply to my discussions more than anyone else. I pretty much add anyone who asks to be added as a friend. I don't think it matters much, though. If you really like someone's discussions and you have them listed as a friend, because then you can go to "Discussions my Friends Started" and their discussions will come right up. However, that is the only advantage I can really see. Just having more friends doesn't make you more money, as far as I can tell.

Having more friends doesn't make you more money? I really don't think this is true. If you look into a user who is well established, they are getting 50+ responses to their discussions. Do you not think this is at least in part due to there regular friends? There friends are the ones that are keeping those discussions alive.

If you have friends as in friends you communicate regularly with at myLot, I think you will enjoy myLot possibly a bit more. If you are looking for more responses for your discussions, I think it helps if you have more friends. Friends like to check on discussions started by their friends - so you have a higher chance of attracting more responses there. ;-)
Yes you can "make it" without friends.. but you have to define for yourself what "make it" is. If you judge by responses to your discussions, I would say it would be challenging UNLESS you are really good at starting discussions.

Yes. Friends can be a great asset. However some will try to get on your friends list so they can send you spam. I am not here to make money. I am sure you have seen my make more working in McDonald's for one day contribution. =)
I reply to my friends discussions before I look for something of interest. However there are some who asked to be friends who have never replied to any of my discussions. Been weeks. I am like ummm WTF? I guess it is some kind of OCD.
I do not patronize anyone who does not respond to my discussions. Plain and simple. I have one person who has responded to almost everyone of my discussions. Guess what? I have responded to everyone one of their's that was not gender specific. I mean really I can't comment on tampons. LOL. But I did respond to one on how to deal with PMS by mistake. I didn't know until it asked me if I wanted to add PMS to my interests. ROTF.
Sometimes they will be persistent. When they do this and I KNOW it is only to send me spam I just leave it in pending so I don't have to check it. An example would be someone who has a 9 but 700+ friends. They have no discussions nor replies that can be seen. It might be to send you spam. You will get an invite from them if you have not already.
Reply to mine and I'll reply to yours. When anyone who can speak in complete sentences and does not have a Britney Spears bald or with hair discussion going on replies to one of mine I go to their profile and look for something I can supply some input.
Also you may not want to change your avatar. It will make you harder to identify. A lot of people look at the pictures and might not know you as champr23. I look at the pictures.
If any of my friends read this and wonder why I haven't been responding to your discussions it is because of an avatar change.

That's right, friends on Mylot are the key to more responses, but sorrily,I realised that too late.In the older days, when every latest discussion was posted on the homepage, you got 4-5 responses to your topics anyway, but now,it is impossible to get your topic listed in the "Today's top discussions" section without having any friends to respond to it. It's always the friends who promote your topic. However, my advice is, don't select friends at random. Check if they've been active for some time and how many posts per day they've made since the day they joined. Also, message them after they approve your request to make proper acquaintance so that you and them both share a little bit of friendly feelings, which will promote the exchange of responses.

It depends on you if you want to have more friends here it has also advantages if you have many friends here.If you have many friends here then they would help you they wll respond to your discussion and rate it. But you can make increase your earnings by increasing also your referrals and post many discussions.

I'm pretty selective with whom I accepted as my friends. Until now, I still can't decipher why some friends wished to be added on my list when they are not partaking in any of my discussions. Some of them had totally disappeared from mylot but I didn't delete them. I only deleted those who are active and obviously trying to take advantage of my continuous support. I prefer to maintain a small group of friends which I'm assured will respond to my threads. :)

Charms you sound like you know wat your talking about. I think this is what I am going to try to do myself. Maintain a small group of friends that will respond to my threads, but who knows where I'll go in this place.
I could add 20 friends tomorrow or quit tomorrow. lolz.

Friends are really important up here in mylot.Or at least for me they are important. One of the reason i come online at mylot is due to the friends and the nice ambiance here that they create.I even felt very bad when one of my friends here quit mylot.

I have to say I have no time to check whether she or he can be fit for my friendlist, but if I like their posts, I will add them to my list. Time will tell.

I'm sorry to say maybe it is not essential to have a lot of friends...but undoubtedly...it is better to have more friends...of course...this is personal opinion...
And with a small or a long friends list is a matter about someone-self...maybe he or she really have so much good friends...
another question...do you play warcraft...? and your race is spirit...?
