Of those who have read the book then seen the movie were you disappointed in the movie? I was shocked at how much the cut from the book. I mean I expect them to cut parts out but this was a shock that some of the major points in the book were just deleted. I am so disappointed.

I have not read that book but I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with the movie.
I don't know how much the plot deviated from the real story but if there isn't much of a change, then the plot is plain pathetic. There is no substance to the story at all. The entire movie can be completed within 5 min if you make things more streamlined lol.
A lousy movie, I give it 2 thumbs down.

The movie deviated so much from the book that I do not know how they are going to do a sequel of it. I mean they cut HUGE MAJOR chunks from the book. The major plot parts were cut so I had a hard time folowing the movie.

Like I said, I never read the book.. I sure hope it is much better - given how the author was so confident in his story that he went all over to look for a publisher before striking gold. He appeared on the papers in Singapore some time back... so I was doubly disappointed when I caught the show. :P

Sure things. I even can tell Eragon was the worst movie in directory. I was wondering, are Mr. Christopher Paolini doesn't take a voice in arranging Eragon movie ? I am absolutely disappointed, so much action in book were cut, but still, it's movie were good in visual.

I agree!
I was so disappointed in the movie. My son got me into reading the books after I got him the first of the Inheritence series for Christmas. We were so excited to see the movie and UGG. It was horrible! You are so right about them taking so much of the story out. They butchered it! I hope they do a better job with the second movie. It it's even still in the works after the disaster of the first one.

I have seen the movie but I haven't read the book yet. Yeah, I've heard my friends saying that there are a lot of cuts in the movie. Though I haven't read the book yet, I have appreciated the movie that much. Maybe I still have to read it too to compare the two. :)

I don't know whether we saw the same movie, because I felt Eragon to be an excellent movie adaptation of the book. I thought that Fangmeier cut off the boring parts of the book and retained all the major elements of the book perfectly. In fact, the movie was much better than the book itself.
Check out my complete review of the movie at:

Cheers!

I was really looking forward to seeing the movie. My kids ended up seeing it before me and my son can practically recite the book and has learned all the words in the Ancient Language. He was livid when he saw what a mess they made with the film.
I only saw it a couple of weeks ago after listening to quite a bit of his ranting, so I was ready for it and tried to just go with it and pretend it had nothing to do with the book.
I must say I burts out laughing when Saphiea 'grew' in those bursts of explosions. It was just too lame to handle.

I agree it is just nothing like the book. And some of the parts they changed were downright stupid.

I read the book before I watched the Movie and I was like "hey where's that, oh they cut it out, I thought that was a vaild point" etc
The book is so much more detailed Much better to have imagined... I still however enjoy the movie but thought it would have been a little more detailed like the book and longer viewing....

Wow! I loved the movie and thought it was quite charming. But then, I had never heard of Eragon and had not read the book. Most of the time, when a book is adapted into a movie, it is never as good. Since I hadn't read the book, I had nothing to compare it by and took it on its own merit. I loved it.

I am always prepared to be a little let down by books made into movies (although in the case of the Harry Potter books the movies are fantastic the books are fantastic) but this was just mind blowing how many MAJOR cuts were done to the basic story line. It was like two different stories. Lucky you that you hadn't read the book lol. Don't get me wrong I liked the movie but just was hard to follow after reading the book and a huge disappointment.

Yah.. I also a little bit disappointed with this movie. I had imagined the characters and the setting while I read that book. But It was very diferrent with the movie..
Yah they cut many of the major points so it's not that interesting than the book [eventhough I like reading Eldest better than the Eragon..]
