I used to sleep late at night because of staying so much here in front of my PC and then i wake early upon hearing the loud cry of my baby so i really feel bad, after giving my son's needs like a bottle of milk and change his diaper,i am trying to go back to sleep again but hardly can't sleep..I understand this is bad for health..i am trying to sleep early at night but it doesn't work.
How about you?do you get enough sleep?if not,is it ok for you?

No, I definately do not get enough sleep! I'm the same as you. My baby (5 months) goes to bed at around 7:30 p.m. so I'll put her to sleep and watch t.v. or play on the computer for 2 hours until my husband gets home from work. Then we'll have some dinner, watch some t.v., and I'll get on the computer for a few more hours until I look at the clock and go, "oh my gosh, it's midnight, I need to go to bed!!!", but then I still have to load the dishwasher, change my clothes, go to the bathroom, etc. so by the time I actually fall asleep it's usually 1:00 a.m. or so. Natalie (my daughter) wakes up at least twice during the night and I have to go into her room, tuck her back in, and put her pacifier in her mouth, otherwise she'll scream for 15+ minutes. She gets up for her morning bottle at 6:30 a.m. and my day starts all over again. If I try to go back to sleep after feeding and changing her, I just end up lying in bed. Napping during the day doesn't work either. I know it's terrible and I need to take better care of myself and go to bed earlier but I just can't seem to make myself. I'm always tired during the day and sometime it gets so bad that I even feel sick from lack of sleep, but I still stay up late every night!! It doesn't help that my husband stays up even later than me.

I know how it is. I work best at night when the kids are sleeping, and I try to get all these scholarship applications done, write articles, and earn some extra money to fund my graduate studies, but the older I get the more difficult it gets to go on a few hours of sleep.
My youngest son, who is 13 months have a very bad sleeping pattern, and he still wakes up several times a night. At least both of my boys like to sleep until 8 a.m., although I give my youngest a bottle around 5-7 a.m. This morning though, my youngest son kept pinching me, while he was half a sleep, and he woke me up so many times last night. Yet, I am still here at 1 a.m. in the morning on the computer :)

I used to get only 3-4hrs of sleep only, most of the awaken hours were spent on work, trading and reading. But now, I find that getting abit more sleep makes me more energetic, I think age has a hand in it. Now I get about 5-6hrs and it really make my waking hrs better. Think it also has to do with the fact that my life just got more organised.
Kids when they are young, do take alot of time and effort on the parents. Maybe you should plan your hours. Babies usually take naps of 2-3 hours before they wake up crying for milk or change of diapers. So try to take note of the timings and work something out.

Sahira I have problems sleeping so I sympathise with you! I remember what it is like when your children are babies and how hard it is to get a decent nights sleep - most mums do! I always tried to follow my drs advice and try to nap - or at least rest - when my baby did! This stage passes really quite quickly and hopefully when your son is a bit older your sleep pattern will settle down again! xxx

I did the "rest when your baby does" with my oldest son, but now that I am a stay at home mom with two boys (4 and 1), this just does not apply any longer.
I try to get my oldest son to watch some pbs, when the baby is sleeping, but it is still difficult, because if I dose off, I never know what he is up to.

With the nature of my job, I don't get enough sleep at all. My work starts at 4AM to 12 noon...Being a mom and a wife, I need to take care lots of things in the household after work. My average sleeping hours is only 4 hours.

In high school, yes I used to get plenty of sleep but since i am i college now with so much work to do, sometimes i would go to bed for two hours. Most definitely it is not okay for me because during the day i feel very tired and sometimes fall asleep in my boring classes. The most important thing that a person needs to do is go to bed as early as you can because your health is more important than anything else. I am getting more sleep now and I don't feel tired anymore.

For me, working nights doesn't let me get enough sleep. I still feel tired when I get up for work. I never got too much sleep even when I was working day shifts, so it doesn't bother me too much.

Sleep is important to our body and mind, unfortunately some do not get a proper sleep. This effect their performances.
Sometimes it is due our habits that we sleep late and complain that we do not have adequate sleep. Change your sleeping habits, meaning going to bed early. Even if you are unable to sleep just lie down, eventually you body and mind will take over.
The Japanese, I think believe that a short nap in the afternoon will do wonders to the body. Have tried sleeping in afternoon?

I am a late person, I usually sleep after midnight about 1 am almost every day. I stay up and spend my time on the internet a lot. And I need to get up at 6.30pm to bring the kids to school and for me to get to work. I only have about 5 to 6 hours of sleep a day. And a little bit more on the weekend.
I will try to steal some sleep during lunch time in the office, I will have a quick lunch and then take a 20 to 30 min of power nap and I will be fresh for the rest of the day.

I also can't have good sleep at night. Before I sleep late at night because I also spend so much time in front of the computer but now i'm trying to lessen my time using computer. I go to bed early at night to take a sleep but I can't sleep because I still don't feel sleepy so I just watch television until I feel sleepy. Most of the time I feel sleepy at the time of 2 a.m. so the bad thing about that is I wake up late like 10 a.m. to 12 p.m and I get rush buying our lunch in the market.

Don't you miss the life before kids sometimes. Where you could be up all night and then turn around and sleep all day. I can actually do better if I get a full nights sleep, but if I have to stay up late, it's easier if I just stay up and don't get any sleep at all, or I will not want to get up at all.

At this point I do feel that I do get enough sleep. What helps is going to bed and waking up at the same time every day. Establishing a sleep routine makes getting and staying asleep a lot easier. I try to get off the computer about an hour before I go to bed just to help me wind down. Thankfully, my kids no longer wake me at night.

I think the minute you become a parent you never get enough sleep. I have not had a ggod nights sleep since my son was born six years ago. You always worry and you always think about the things that need to get done the next day. In my case I work from 6pm to 11pm then I am up at 6am to get my son ready for school.
