Why do some people take life so freaking seriously?

Do you not realize people that you get ONE shot at this, so make it wonderful!!!!! Don't waste your time hating, instead venture out to love. Don't waste your life crying about what you don't have, appreciate what you DO. Don't waste your life by hiding from the world because it's so big and scary, there's far more beauty and kindness then you think out here! I just get so tired of hearing complainers, nay-sayers and simple down people that cannot see the forest for the trees in front of them. This world is so wonderful, so beautiful and so great. It's a gift to us, one we should appreciate every second we are here and live it being HAPPY. Sure we will all have our down days but why waste your life being unhappy?

These are good thoughts, my friend, but there is a but. Yes, always the but. If we look at it from another angle, might life is short be the reason why people take things so seriously? After all, you don't get a second chance. :P

In my opinion, I think you're all lunatics. Of COURSE you should take life seriously. And you should be really corrupt. None of that 'what is the moral right thing to do', it should be "What will get me the most money".

I like what you are saying and you make some great points. Life is way to short to not be livin' it well. Happiness comes from within and cannot be destroyed by the outside world unless we allow it. One thing for sure, you said the world is beautiful and great...that is because you are part of it.

You are so right. Life is a gift, and it is up to you to learn to enjoy it fully. When I was younger I was a big worrier but as I grew older I began to accept life and the problems that go with it one day at a time and now I try to keep a positive attitude. Most of all, I realize that love and faith in God are very important in this life.

You make some very good points hockeygal! I especially like, "Don't waste your life crying about what you don't have, appreciate what you Do." Yes, we only get one shot at this, and we should make it count! I really like the quote that goes something like 'live everyday as if it were your last" and "dance like no one is watching!"

You are very right here i completely agree with you. I have wasted few years crying over split milk and now i know that it was my fault only. I took things seriously and i took my love affairs a bit very serious and in the end i was the end who got hurt. Now i have learned my lessons but it took a long time for me to realize that. Anyway lets live a life before its too late.

I agree!! Live every day to the fullest and stop wasting your time on unhappiness. Life is what YOU make it. I mean why take life so seriously when no one gets out alive anyway.

I could add: Don't waste your time to envy other people, make your own life a masterpiece. Perhaps it's right what they say: you can create your future with your thoughts. If somebody is searching only negative in his life, he can be sure, he'll gets a lot of it. Even if there are positive things also, a person who is spending all his time complaining, hating etc. will not recognize them. On the other hand, I've seen people who are ill, or injured, and they still have not lost the ability to enjoy their life. I've always admired people who are sporting in rollchairs, FE who are taking part in rollchair races. They are training pretty hard for it, I'm sure. It's like this old cliche - if the life offers you lemons, make a lemonade of them. Those people really are doing it!

Sometimes those "handicaps" are exactly what changes a person around to realize that they are lucky to be alive and given the chance to enjoy this earth we are on! I agree with you... make lemonade indeed!

Well said hockeygal. I wish more people looked at the blessings in their life instead of worrying about what they don't have. I almost hate to ask someone how they are because most people ramble on about everthing. Complaining about this and that all the time. It gets on my nerves and you know what, it brings me down. We should focus on the positives and all the things we are grateful for.

LOL.. OMG... I used to have a guy at work that everyone avoided because if you asked how he was he would literally give you an hours worth of "woe is me" and tell you about how bad his life was. I remember walking by one day and saying "Did you see the snow out there?! It's so beautiful it looks like we're in a snow globe". His reply was "yeah, and I feel like someone's shaking it and tossing my life around with it". That summed up his entire personality! LOL

I like to be happy and I really think am 99% of the time. I feel so sorry for sad people, pessimists, and those suffering from depression. On my profile my motto is "Life is what you make it. So make it great" and I really believe that.

Everyone has down days... it's normal. But those that have those as the norm are missing out on so much. If they would just step back and put their life into perspective. This is the only life you get... make the best of it.

I agree 100%... Life is what we make it- It's our choices whether we are going to be happy or sad-- Sure like you said life throws you curves-- Learn how to hit those curve balls. Smile-- Hang out with enjoyable people.. Do things that make you happy! If you don't like the situation you are in- Change it- Do what you can to make your life more positive and pleasureable! THis was a great post!

I know exactly what your saying. I tend to turn the other check when people come to me with a problem. I take all their negativity and turn into to positive advice for them to relish upon. Keeps them from turning their anger and sadness into depression. I've been through these emotions enough times myself to be able to give at least a little hope back to the individual. Just yesterday I actually sat and fed the geese at the local park and I got some great footage on film. This is where I find peace, comfort, happiness, and solace for myself. It's why I'm a good listener and speaker. I can appreciate life; others forget to grasp the essence. Remember most of the evil and ill feelings are from money issues anyway.

Isn't it amazing how one person's bad mood can set the tone for your day if you allow it? I'm always amazed at that strength!

I hope you find it too. You only live once, even the bad things happen for good reasons. Someday you can look back and realize why something happened and learn from it. I do hope you find that positive outlook again!

life is beautiful. if there are ups and downs, i don't think the downs would make it ugly at all. life is what we make it. do the most that you can as if everyday is your last day = then it would always be special.

This is really an inspirational discussion. Taking life seriously Happens with many people. How can you erase sad things that easily, i can't forget things that easily at the same time i don't cry. life is so beautiful thats the reason why most of them keep on trying even though they know its difficult. Thats the spirit and most of them won't be worried of the past once they taste the success. Being unhappy is what lets you learn more things i guess. And it shouldn't lead to depression. Wish every one a happy life.

Moments of sadness allow you to appreciate your life more, if you let it. You should learn from your bad times, not hold onto them as a lifestyle. I hope you have a happy life too! And never "forget" the sad things, just learn from them.

It is ashame that people are so negative and that we have to listen to them complain all the time. I try to avoid those type of people as I want to enjoy life and be around happy people and people that are positive. It is annoying listening to people complain all the time. Life is short so we should be enjoying the things that we do have. Not everyone is as fortunate as us to have things like a home, car, computer, internet, food, clothes or anything else.

I couldn't agree with you more! Life is meant to be enjoyed and we should be happy. Somestime it is hard though, when you feel like you've been good, you work hard, and where has it gotten you??? I guess that would basically just be material items. I have 3 beautiful kids, 2 beautiful grand babies, and 1 on the way...I have a good job. I can honestly say with them in my life, I could not ask for anything more!! I love them dearly...

There are some people who has been dealt bad cards and some lucky enough to win every game of chance life throws on their laps. Yes, you are right that the world is way too much beautiful for us to just whine and hide our faces under the sheets because of our down days but sometimes we have to bemoan our wretched state, to separate ourselves from the beauty around us, because when we're through with this stage we will always find life and the world more beautiful. Just like the sky is brighter and the birds sing clearer and the flowers are fresher right after a hard rain.

its something that comes along with the new generation we have. we live in a very fast-paced, high-standard of living today. we look up to celebrities, successful and influencial people, and to people we admire. we would usually feel some sort of self-pity since we compare ourselves to them, without realizing that we too have our own different potentials. we compare ourselves to others, thats the bottomline to it. everytime we see improvement to people we know, or sometimes simply our neighbors, we feel inferior and work hard on it to level up with them. we never get contented. today, standard and status of living is mostly based on how much you earn and how much could you afford. people nowadays are so materialistic that all they care about is acquiring material wealth.

I've been depressed my whole life and am just now realizing this. I'm actually weaning OFF my medication because I've changed my outlook and realizing that we have one life to live and that's it, so live it up! Party hard, love life, be fabulous just the way we are. Life is too short to spend it worrying and being miserable. Have a good time and enjoy each day with those you love the most!
