Here's my husband's thinking after I asked him this post. (I ask him what he thinks about different post quite often. He seldom takes he bait.) He said that if he was in a far away place, and had no money, and he didn't know the person, he would take the money. But, if it was in his town, he wouldn't take the money. I asked him, 'why not?' and he said, 'because in-town people know you, and people are strange. I don't want someone coming back and saying I owned them money or saying that I stole it. I thought about this for awhile, and realized he is right. You never know what people will so. They are a strange breed! (We watch a lot of court shows.)

It depends. What does this stranger expect in return? I can't believe it would come without strings attached.

I'm in total agreement here. Nothing in life comes free. There is always a hidden agenda.

I would be too frightened to get close enough to the person to even grab the money. I would think that they are crazy and might try doing something to me. Kinda like a stranger offering a kid candy *gives me the chills*.

I would take the $500 if I already know what's the motive behind offering it. After all, we need money but just to be careful asking why he should do it.

Me, I would, at this point of lay-off, take the money and pay a bill. The first five hundred I coould save, I would do the same for someone else, with the stipulation that they have to pass it on.

I don't know. I doubt that it ever happens. If there were no strings, yes, but then there are always strings.

Before I took it, I'd ask what he or she expected in return. If the individual stated, "Nothing," then I would take it, offer my thanks, tell him/her, "God bless you," and be on my way...but, on my way, I would offer another stranger the same, but keep a portion of the proceeds for myself.

it depends on what they wanted me to do for the money
