My fiance and I moved our daughter into her crib when she was 2 months old. When I talk to other moms, some of them feel like that was too early, but for us it worked out perfectly. We slept well, and she slept well...mostly. lol. Of course she got up during the night, but now that she's 10 months she sleeps in her crib every night and we don't have any issues. It's all up to you and what you think will work for you as a mother/family. Just keep the baby monitor on high and you'll be ok! ;-)

That is when my daughters Dr moved her babies too. lol I just don't feel ready yet. But I think that part of that is because she already sleeps through the night. Yes, 13 weeks old and she goes to sleep around 10 or so and sleeps until 7:30. I am very lucky!

To make you feel a little different, couldn't you just move the bassinet in to her own room so she can be used to being in there before you put her in the cot?
My daughter didn't go in to her own room until she was 6 months but only because we were waiting for the cot to arrive (my in laws were buying it & they were working all the time) so she had to stay in her bassinet longer than we'd have liked - we had to keep an eye on her in the bassinet coz she could roll - LOL - she was a little big but we managed.
I'd try the bassinet in her own room first as the first change & then a couple weeks later do the next change & put her in the cot! Good luck & i hope it all goes smoothly for you!

or you can do it the other way around if you have room. you can set up the crib in your room and let her get used to it in there then move it to her room....i think this would accomplish the same thing. it's just changing the order of the change. changing room first then bed...or changing bed first then room. i don't think it matters. my older children never even had bassinets.

That is a good option as well. We might do that. The only problem is our room is so small, but for a couple weeks it wouldn't be that bad. Thanks!

i didn't had a bassinet! right into the cribs from day one!
so in this way i could sleep better! and both of my daughters are good sleepers now. i am not saying because of the sleeping in their rooms right away but i guess it helped!
and ofcourse it's your choise!

I wish we had done that just so this would not be an issue. I am nervous about her sleeping in a different room than me. But she will do fine I am sure.

I put both my babies in their crib (cot) from the first day they came home from the hospital. However, I kept them in my bedroom for the first year, with the cot pulled up close to the side of my bed.
I do not say this is what every parent should do as we all have different views. Like I never would have them sleeping in my bed like alot of parents do.
So really it is down to you and what you feel is best for your daughter.

I know what you mean. There is a four year gap between my kids, so I needed my mums advice all over again!lol
I so miss those days, my kids are now 13 and 17, so its a battle getting them to bed nowadays!
I wish you all the best.

Yes, I suppose that is true. I forgot how hard it is having a baby. I thought the second time around I wouldn't be second guessing myself, but I was wrong! lol

My baby never slept long on the crib however he found it ok for day time naps. He sleeps early in the night so till I go to bed he sleeps on the crib . If I leave him on the crib for the whole night he will get up in the midnight.

With the way my daugher is growing I don't think she will fit in the bassinet then. lol but it would be nie if she would. I would be alot less nervous about it if she was 6 months.

My son was around 4 months old when we moved him into the crib. He wanted to go to the crib, because he was running out of room in the bassinet. He rolled over from an early age, so when he got bigger, he didn't have room to roll anymore.
We went home (1000 miles away) for a while when he was about 4 months old. My mom had bought him a crib for her house. He slept in it while we were there, and wanted no part of his bassinet when we got back to our house. He loved that freedom that he had in the crib!

I think we may move her at 4 months as well. It does seem that she is running out of room already.

we used the crib right off from the beginning. i had the bassinet in the living room for when he was sleeping during the daytime. now he's not in his own room but my two older children never shared my room with me, i just couldn't sleep with an infant in my room, i woke with every stir so for my own sanity they slept in their room from birth. now that i'm older i sleep better or sounder whatever the reason i have no problem sharing with this baby and we don't have a room ready for him yet.

I think that is totally what you are comfortable with as long as it is before she starts sitting up, of course... lol..

It's funny you should say that! I waited way too late with my son. he was 5 months and the reason I realized it was time to moved him (well, ok truth be told, past time!) was because he did a somersault out of his bassinet. He was ok but I was a crying mess for hours afterward.

We moved our son from his bassinet to his crib at around 3 months of age, though his crib was in our bedroom for another couple of months after moving him from his bassinet.

We had our son in his crib in our room. We may end up doing that with our daughter. Haven't decided for sure yet, as the house that we are living in now has much smaller bedrooms.

Move her to the crib ASAP. I allowed my baby to sleep with us and now she is 11 months old and I cant get her out of our bed.. its annoying. Dont make the same mistake that I did.

We had the same problem with our son. Around 1 I was able to get him to sleep in his crib but then my husband kept bring him back in bed with us. He is almost 7 now and we just got him to stay in his bed the whole night. Don't want to go through that again.
