Ha ha ha. What a funny question; I do talk to my pet. It's a monitor lizard that I happened to find lurking in our backyard just a couple of weeks ago. Sometimes I feel pathetic talking to something that can't talk back. It's like I don't have any friends. By the way, my pet's name is Moosy; Moosy the monitor. =)

I talk to my pets all the time even when the rest of the household is here. I sometimes think my pets pay more attention to what I am saying. They seem to be listening unlike the rest of the humans in my house.lol. I honestly beleieve that they can understand what I am saying too.

Of course! We talk to our cats all the time! Who doesn't? LOL. Most of the time we don't get much of a response, just a nudge or short meow, but one time we had the neatest cat who would carry on these long back and forth conversations with my husband while he got ready for work. It was really amazing. One would talk, and the other would answer, and the other would respond and the other would answer. It was really neat to hear! He was a special cat.

Definitely I talk to my pets. They are a major part of my family after all and, anyway, they listen to me, even when my husband doesn't.
My cat talks back to me as though she is carrying on a conversation. She has always been a chatty sort and she absolutely drives my husband crazy. He thinks she talks way, way too much...lol. I just put it down to her being female and that she has a lot to share.
My dog, on the other hand, is quiet but he looks at me while I'm talking and tilts his head as though he is listening so hard. He will wrinkle up his forehead and twitch his ears into different positions and then will "hug" me while he is still listening and looking at me. It is so adorable, made all the more so considering he is a large dog.
I noticed one of your previous posters wrote about how their dog likes to sing to Happy Birthday. My dog likes to also sing in his big booming voice. His favourite music tends to be opera, though. He also likes classical and certain tunes that go with some commercials and the openings of some television shows such as Coronation Street. He doesn't seem to care for Country and Western tunes very much and he only likes a couple of Christmas carols. Because of his tastes in music, I am unable to watch skating challenges when he is anywhere around...he just wants to sing throughout the entire show.
Oh, life is so sweet wih our furry friends.

Yes I talk to my pets quite often, as being home alone most days they are great company and I am sure they listen to me! lol And well as for them answering back.....not sure if I want them to as might not like what they say, first they may complain about their food and then it would go on and on....lol
