spouse works at night, how do I keep kids quite while he is sleeping?

Any tips on how I can let my spouse sleep during the day without the kids waking him up? I have tried everything I can think of, no help yet. I cant just close the door because its getting cold, and it wont let the heat in. Plus...

Sugar_lump Find something they are interested in, tv programmes toys etc, my partners eldest child is amazingly noisy but sit him infront of Thomas the Tank Engine and hes quiet for hours.

Sugar_lump I can't sleep without the TV on, however i'm not so good with light, i can fall to sleep if i'm really tired but other that that. however no TV no sleep for me!

Sugar_lump I have 2 middle names Philomena Ann, Philomena was my dads grammas Christian name and Ann I have no idea where that came from.

Sugar_lump I do drink but only every now and again, it makes a night out if you have a group of friends in a pub and its a way to relax and just kick back
