Aspiring_Geek Blog commenting from dofollow blogs is one effective way of building links to your site. Just make sure to post valuable comments so it would be accepted by the webmaster. You could also do article marketing, social bookmarking and rss feed submission.

Aspiring_Geek Honestly you don't need to buy anything to just find keywords to target for your site. You could use the free Google keyword tool or the free trial of keyword tracker.
