How do you stay cool in the summer.

With it now getting alot hotter every day i find it hard to keep cool.Even though there is alot of shade in the garden it is still too hot.We have ceiling fans in the house, but they do not seem to help much.

I recently just got a 7 weeks old puppy yellow lab and German Shepard mix and it has diarrhea and i was wondering could it be they gave me different dog food from what it was eating or something else all shot are up to date.
