what should a student take when move to another country for studies in winter?

i am going for studies to usa but i dont know the whole list of things i should take. things which are costly in usa and can be taken along. what could be, it is a hard answer but do you know any website or link?

ishaq173 Thanks alot for your comment. I dont have laptop and that i intend to buy in usa. Rest of the stuff like blanket, shoes, clothing, i would bring from home. I am making a list of things i should take. In the beginning i would go to NY and then connecticut.

If i have DSL and my computer is connected to the modem/routher by USB cable.

I want to know if i have connect my computer to the modem by usb or ethernet cable? which one will give me better speed. I have 512 kbps. Morever if i have to use ethernet cable, should i use straight or crossover cable? Anyone...
