janey72 I think a lot people grew up having to wear slippers, and then they continue to do as they grow up. This is the case for me. I usually wear slippers in the house. The whole family do the same.

janey72 Most of us have very nice houses, and given that the weather here is pretty awful, its totally reasonable to expect guests to remove their shoes at the door.Also here most homes have an entrance porch, where family/guests change from shoes to slippers.

janey72 We live on the East Coast of Scotland, where its very cold and windy for much of the year. Also the roads and footpaths are usually quite muddy and sandy. Changing from shoes to slippers is second nature for us.

janey72 Shoes in the house are not allowed, so go bare foot with my slippers. Its a big thing for me keeping the house clean, so its a house rule that my family also change into slippers and guests are encouraged to do the same.

janey72 I grew up with changing from shoes slippers at the door. It also I do now with my own family. back then you would see lines of slippers by the door and its still the same now. Its nothing new taking shoes off at the door.

janey72 oh yes i always wear slippers in the house. i put them on as soon as i get home. its something the whole family does. not only is it more comfortable, it also helps to keep the floors nice and clean.
