Leca Thank you for all your suggestions! We have tried some of the other things - signing and pictures - and he had problems making the connections, but a doll might be something to try, since that's something he can hold onto and feel is the right shape!

Leca We tried that, and the school is attempting working with it too, but he doesn't seem to have much luck in trying to connect signs to anything. He doesn't connect one thing to another well at all with anything.

Leca Yup, he'll be turning 6 in May anyway. He's been diagnosed with autism and epilepsy, and is having a pretty rough time. He stopped speaking a few years back, so he's nonverbal, but he's such a loving and sweet little guy.
