Would you please help me to think out a male English name?

I am a Chinese. My boy has been to the kindergarten for 3 months. Now his teacher requires everyone to have an English name because he has already had English lessons. This is frustrating for me because it is hard to think out a good name for him. So I would like to hear your ideas. Please suggest me some male English names. My son's Chinese name is: Yong Xi (First name) Chen (Surname) The English name doesn't have to be related to the Chinese name. It is just for your reference. Thanks a lot!

what a novel idea. Here in the United states the kids have to learn a foreign language too but they are not required to add a name to their own. I like Ralph which means kingly.

I know some foreigners who study in China. And they have Chinese names and I think they try to accept another culture. My first foreign teacher has a Chinese name and I have to say he really learns Chinese quite well.

How about David, it means beloved. Or Benjamin , it means son of the right hand. Or Michael, it means who is like G-d.Or William which means resolute protector.Does Yong XI have a special meaning in Chinese because maybe the translation could be his English name.

I suggest writing down all the names recommended here on pieces of paper and choosing one by drawing lots. Hehe, in fact, that's the way our foreign teacher gave us an English name when I was young in school.

Hi, I went and looked up some name meanings for you. The fact that you told me that his name means "Forever Hope" gives me the idea that the surname should be Hope. In America we had a well known and much loved comedian named Bob Hope, so Hope would be a suitable surname. I have not found an English name yet that means "forever" but I found a unique name Kesler, that means "independent and energetic" and those sound like good qualities. So, if you liked my suggestions your son would use the English name of Kesler Hope. This is a fun topic to explore. You said you liked the names Matthew and Michael as well. Usually the books say that Michael is an angel of God. So that would sound good too: Michael Hope.

John, Jim, Bill, Tom, Rick, Sam, Tim, Mike, Peter, Andy, Jerry, Harry, and Sam are some first names. If you are looking for last names, you can try Smith, Jones, James, Brown, Black, White.

It is interesting to give your son an English name to use during his English lessons. I think you could use a name like Yuri as it also starts with the same letter. You could alternatively choose a traditional English name like Thomas, Robert, James, Henry, George, Samuel, Jonathan, Fredrick or Nicholas. A different idea would be to use a more modern name like Toby, Nathan, Louis, Danny, Ryan or Shane. I once taught a boy that moved over to my country from Hong kong. His name was Owen. Do you like that name? He had a similar surname to your son. Goos luck in choosing the ideal name.

Your selections are very special, thanks a lot:) Perhaps that boy from Hong Kong and his surname is Chan. It is the same surname but different spelling. Chen is a very common surname in China.

That really is something I never heard of any language teacher doing but it does seem like it would make learning another language much more fun! Hm, I've always liked the names Joshua and James for boys.
