I have been suffering from a sinus infection for the past three weeks and i am still feeling awful. Does anyone have any solutions on how to get well again? My doctor has tried three different antibiotics and only Biaxin has worked a little bit. What do you take? I am trying Claritin right now to see if that works. I really hate sinus infections.

For me personally Eating spicy foods, and onions, and garlic.. help them drain better.. But you need to make sure with the doctor that for your type of sinuses infection that doing this will not make it worse... As for some types of sinus infections this helps clear it up better, I would recommend some herbs, but I am not going to with all the other antibiotics you do not want to overwhelm your body to much with those, Just make sure you are resting, getting plenty of sleep.. Drinking Lemonade or lemon juice may help... and eating Chicken Soup, and Tomato soups help... Avoiding Red Meat, and dairy products can help, as these products make the body produce more mucus, so when dealing with a cold or a sinus infection.. that can help it clear out a little. That is all I know to recommend to help. I am not a doctor, just keep in touch with your doc, and get plenty of rest, it sounds like you are doing all you can. :) ... - DNatureofDTrain

That is funny that you mentioned spicy foods as I was at my bowling league friday night and the diner person recommended trying hot wings with hot sauce. I tried it and it helped me get through the evening. I have not tried onions and garlic. I have been eating lots of chicken soup and hot tea. Thank you for your advice. :-)

It depends on your symptoms. There are different things that help different symptoms. If you have chest congestion and cough then you want to get something with guaifenesin in it. Something like mucinex will be good. Or if it is more of a head cold with nasal congestion then you want to try sudafed.

Well, I am no expert, as I have a Cold I am trying to get rid of right now as well. Been taking Amoxicillian myself for it, and it seems to be helping some. I just still cough bad a night. Have you tried Mucinex and seen if it helps any? They now have a Spray you might want to consider you can use for your nose that you can get over the counter now. This is just a suggestion for you, and wishing you the best.

Throw all that junk away hon and mix a bowl of salty water, just a small bowl is fine make it pretty salty and take a towel put it over your head and the bowl, breath in the salt water at least twice a day. The best sinus spray is simply just Saline. That's what it took for me to get rid of the sinus trouble and nose bleeding. Take Care.

Hi KG! When my breathing is clogged, I do accupressure on my spinal column from the rib cage down to the waist. Lie down at your right side and do pressure on the side of your spinal column. Repeat it at your left side. Do it by yourself. The more pain you experience, the more you repeat the procedure. Try it. For me, my nose can breath air freely.

I am so sorry for you. I know how miserable you can feel. I hope the doc finds something to help you feel better. Do you also have allergies, this time of year it can be bad. Sometimes using a saline solution for your nose helps clear up your sinuses. I just said a prayer for you, you can also say a prayer. Some people don't like going to God with smaller problems, I say why not. Go to him with all our problems. Good luck Ken, I hope you feel better soon.

nothing really works medicine wise for me. I think medicines are a bunch of bull crap to help companies make money. Since a sinus infection is basically a virus and are immune to antibiotics there's nothing you can really do. I had it realy bad about two months ago and nothing helped. It's just gotta run its course. SOrry!!

I have tried Claritin and the knock-offs too. They work about the same. I do know that when I do not take it my sinuses are horrible. The sinus problems often turn for the worse and I get an infection. I use saline sprays to moisturize the irritated sinuses and it helps. I also add humidity to the air.

I deal with this because of alergies. I use honey in green tea. I use vitamins. I use claritin d along with nose spray. Drink lots of water. Lots of soups....lots of green tea hot with lemon and honey. Hot steaming showers.....If you like hot and sour chinese soup, that is my favorite...helps open things up.

Claratin D does it for me. Also making sure to take hot showers and drink hot teas helps get a steam effect going and a warming effect in case its more than just a sinus infection. Increasing vitamin C with E and the B complex can help out too. The former for minor immune and cell improvement, the latter for increasing bloodflow and flow of the vital cells to help with the anti-infection process.

Well, I hope that you are feeling much bet now. I don't get sinus infection much at all. And I don't think I use any medication for it when I do get it. I guess, it doesn't last for very long to be a problem whenever I get it.
