I just wonder, do you often check other people's profiles here on mylot? If someone wants to be your freind here do you check the rpofile first and only after that accept or deny the invitation? The reason why I am asking is that I think that there is no too much of the information about the person in the profiles. What do you think?

Yes. I usually look at the age and the gender. And of course, if people uploaded their own pictures it would be very useful, since you know who you are talking to. This matters a lot since it improves your way of responding to that user, and it surely makes you more sincere and responsible of what you're writing. So...sometimes I check profiles before answering to discussions!

I rarely check profiles to be honest. I take people as I find them via discussions & responses. If a person requests friendship, I almost never check their profile first. Of course, if I am unhappy with their discussions, or feel they are acting inappropiately on My Lot, I definitely review my friendship & check their profile.

I always check everybody profile in mylot and accept every friend requests. I just want to know more about my friend in mylot. Actually I don't care about who my friend was in mylot. I just want to share my thought and ideas with everybody in my lot.

Hello. I log in to MyLot probably 3-4 times a week on average, and I tend to check most of my friends' profiles about once a week or so. (Sometimes more, sometimes less.) When someone is requesting to be my friend I will check out their profile and almost always accept the request. As a matter of fact, I don't think I have rejected anyone's request yet...

I do check if something s/he wrote is particularly intriguing or if they send me a friend invite. But anyone can put anything in a profile, although I think most people are honest.

I do check people's profiles when they send me a friend request. You're right, there's not too much info there. But, I look at their age and their interests and I read some of their discussions and responses and depending on what I think is how I base my decision on wether or not to turn the email alert on. However it takes time to really get to know someone. One lady, who has left myLot, was very popular and a friend to all. One day she posted a discussion that was a nasty rant against fat people. It showed her in an entirely new light and from then I her posts read very differently. This was a person who seemed to feel she was better than most of the rest of us. There have been others too whom over the course of time have shown themselves in a different light than that which you first saw them. I've lost respect for several of my myLot friends over time. I'm sure I've had the same effect on some people as well. My advice to you if you're interested is be cautious and patient. That's all. Don't give too much of yourself until you feel you really know someone and then you won't get hurt.

If someone is talking about something I am interested in then I check the profile. Thats the only time I check profiles. I accept every friend request without checking their profile. I figure if someone took the time to make a request, why reject them. Its what they do after making me a friend determines how long they stay my friend. I had people spam me right after making me their friend. After I dont respond to their message, they get the hint.

hello there to U...yes, i do check other's profiles...especially if someone would want to add me to be their friend...yes, i would check their profile first before accepting their friend request...because i want to know them and if you want to meet a new friend then definitely, you would want to know who they are or what's their background... It's like getting to know your new friends here on MyLot...i do check my friends' profiles too, just to know if they have started new discussions or what's their activities... I think it's not wrong to check other's profiles...it's a way of knowing and being curious about the people here on MyLot...but that's just my opinion... I know people have different views and opinions about this, and i do respect their opinions...it's just that, it's good to know also other's interest, hobbies, favorites, etc... I would say that i really enjoyed being here on MyLot...i'm really blessed to be a part of MyLot's family...i really do love MyLot...this is really a cool discussion...have a blessed day ahead of U...may GOD BLESS U & UR family always!!!

Oh, yes! I often check the profiles when replying to people's discussions because I'm curious as to what part of the world they live in or how old they are, etc. Someone from China, for example, might need a little background on our election process here in the states if they ask a political question whereas a U.S. resident wouldn't. An older person likely wouldn't understand a reference to Metallica or other metal band and a younger one wouldn't make any sense of a quote from Red Skelton! I check the profiles of people asking to be friends, too. I don't know why, I just do. I have no idea why some people ask to be my friends, though. Is there some monetary benefit or am I just a great person?

yes, I will check other members' profiles here in mylot if I find or read a post of my interest or catch my interest . And for those members wish to add me in their friends list, I will first look into their profiles but I'll accept all friends request because I would like to be friends with people from all over the world and really happy that they found me here in mylot and read my profile and then add me as their friends. Well, for me the profiles here do show quite an amount of information about a members such as a member's interest, discussion he/she has started / responded to, friends list, photos and etc.

I don't check profiles, I jut connect with people. People are people wherever they are, and one can learn more from another person by communicating with that person, than they can learn from just looking at their profile.

Ya, i think u are pretty right, there is only nick, age and location. Not really much of information. I didn't check profiles in mylot, i only do reply or start discussions. I have done less these day due to heavy workload, but i really enjoy replying and interacting with lots of people from different background. I like mylot!! hehe :p

NOpe. I rarely check profiles here. Usually when I do it is by accident. I pretty much accept anyone as my friend as long as they post regularly. I delete friends if they haven't posted in a long time. I haven't really made any real friends here. There are a lot of great people at mylot who are really supportive. I always like to hear certain people's posts. If I really wanted to be a friend of someone I'd get their facebook page. Its much more in depth. I find the profile pages here to be lacking a lot of info. The format is also not easy to read.

Hi you are rite there is definatly not enough info on people i think its natural to be curious of the person you going to be friends with and its also natural you want to know what he or she looks like...I think people would accept friendship and add to discussion better if you could see that person...i think i would have to look first before i accept a friendship.....i just couldnt help myself. !!

i always check their profile whenever they want me to add as their friends. some newbies would just collect and collect so many friends but they only just posted 1-2 comments from other discussions and after that they wouldn't be active again lol
