There Are Just Not Enough Hours In A Day, I Need More!

It is getting late again here in the UK and I really have to think about packing up for the day and going to bed, yet I still have not done everything I wanted to do. Every day seems to go faster and faster leaving me with less and less time to do everything I want to or need to do!!If I did not have to sleep it would be so much better! Is it the same for you? Do you need 30 hour days instead of 24? Or are you really good at time management and get everything done that you want to do in a day?

During the school year, 24 hours is not enough. There's just so many things to do and so little time to do them, but in the summertime, 24 hours is just right. I don't want to get bored too much.

You have described my life perfectly lol.
With an almost 2 year old, and an 8 week old, there is never a dull moment here. They are both wanting me 24/7. Plus we are moving interstate next Monday so I am desperately trying to pack and get things done.
I actually just bought a book off ebay from the UK about this very subject, it's called Time Management for Manic Mums by Allison Mitchell and from what I have read so far it is HILARIOUS and actually really helpful. I'd find it useful even if I didn't have children. It's all about how to organsie your life so you can find that extra hour or whatever that you need in each day, and how to get all the things you need to get done each day, done!

My days are just passing very swiftly. I still remember the day I stepped into my school. How have the days passed? Now I find white hair on my head. Really strange! I have just lost my days. Now the age is grabbing me. I wanted to do a lot, perhaps that is the reason, I hardly got the feeling of life. I am getting over. Now I want to slow down, and enjoy each and every remaining day. Will it be possible?

i also have same thought as like you dear friend. i don't think 24 hours is enough to do all of my activities in a day. 30 hours seems interested to have in a day to replace 24 hours per day. so if i have 30 hours in a day, i would able to rest enough and well beside doing all of my activities

No I am useless at time management mummymo, I wonder if there is a course I can take to learn how to do it! Yes the avatar, that is me gemini_rose, that was taken of me when I got up the other morning!! No seriously, it was the closest thing I could get to represent me, I wanted a woman and a rose but actually the wolf is good because I love wolves and then it has the rose, so I will keep it for now!

Who doesn't? I start my day with a goal of what i'd like to accomplish before days end. But very rarely, {if ever} are my goals met. With work, kids, dinner, homework, etc.there never seems to be enough time. I try to manage my time...But as my kids are getting older it's getting a little better for me, i can now have somethings taken care of by them. But i can agree the days are just not long enough.

well, for me so far so good... as i don't have kids yet, time is still not a big issue yet... we are still managing pretty well so far... but sometimes i don't have enough time yet if we are really really busy... so i can perfectly understand what you mean... i don't think i won't be asking God for more hours in a day... i think 24 hours is perfect for me...

Yes I think the fact that I have 4 kids does seem to shorten time considerably, not that I begrudge them a single minute! Mind you the eldest is 16 now and is slowly going his own way now, glad you have enough hours in the day! Perhaps you can lend me some of yours if you ever get any spare.

I definitely know what you mean! I don't know how the hours pass by so quickly sometimes! I think I can usually get done the things that I need to do during the day, but I have to really focus and make a check list for myself sometimes to make sure that I get to everything. Thirty hours in a day certainly would be helpful though!! I'm sure I would have no trouble at all filling up the extra time! :)

Sounds like you are definately on my wavelength! You know I started writing a list, I would write it every morning, I would put what I had to do and I even put a time I had to do it, and at first it worked but then slowly I had to add more and more and so by the end of the day I was that far behind that I just could not keep up with the list.

If I had more hours in the day I would figure out more things to do! LOL...it would be nice to have that many hours in a day so you could accomplish what you want and relax too. Like I said if I had more hours I probably would fill them up too and wish for ever more!

That is a very valid point, the more hours we had the more we would do and so the extra hours would not be extra anymore and then we would still end up wanting more!!

there are definitely not enough hours in the day for me either. i feel like the moment i get up, i had just laid down and i never seem to get what i need done for the day accomplished. i'm a stay at home mother of three kids, so all my days run together. one day is just like the next. half the time i don't even know what day it is, but by the time i get my kids to bed and can actually do something for me or something that needs to be done, it's so late...so it's either go to bed myself or stay up even later loosing some much needed sleep. God bless

I too stay at home, I have 4 kids, I know what you mean! Putting them to bed takes quite a chunk of time up!

Well, I usually feel that I need more time to do all the things I wanted. But there are also occasions that I feel that time is just enough. Perhaps it would always depend on how we make adjustments just to make the day through and finish what we ought to do. Most cases, I really find time is not enough.

I think the majority of us need more hours, wonder if I wrote to someone I could make them listen to me!!

if i have the ability to change,i want 48 hours a day.what's more,i hope i'll never be tired. in that case,24 hours is also ok,coz i needn't to have a rest, which means i have double action time.
these days,i go to sleep at late night and feel quite tired as i spend many hours on internet every day.
compared to the unrealistic imagination of having more hours one day,to improve efficiency and keep energy is more feasible.

Now that sounds like a plan, yes I spend a lot of time on here, more and more each time in fact. I think it does seem to be that more hours might not be such a good idea and time management is more the key.

I used to go to bed at 11.00pm without fail, but just lately it has been midnight gone before I go now and then I struggle to get up the next morning. Yes it is cold today in UK, but I have not had any snow as predicted, yet again we have escaped!

Yeah, i get like this at times. There's definately not enough hours in the day. It's like i'm doing something here on the computer, and have got so into what im doing, and my eyelids won't allow me to stay awake any longer. I know exactly how you feel.
@gemini_rose (16264)

Well thats exactly how my eyelids are at the minute and I want to do more, but I just cannot. I always keep going until I am that tired I am falling asleep on my feet!

Sounds good to me! I suppose figuring out how to better use the time I have would work better. Time is like money, you'll spend what you have!

I think everyone wishes their was more time in the day. I'm a single mom with a 6 month old baby and I work fulltime. Its enough for me to go crazy, because somedays I get behind on housework.... and I feel so behind I know the feeling, it doesnt feel well.

I really feel for you there, I was a single parent with my first born from his birth until he was 8 years old, and I used to work full time too, it can be a nightmare and hard work. Take care

Sometimes I also will think of that why we couldn't have 30 or more hours a day.But I think no matter how many hours is not important. The most important is that we should manage in the right way.So now I think that there is not we have no enough time is just we don't know how to do as much things as that with 30 hours.

Yeah I think time management is probably the key here! I would still like to have more hours though!

I only agree about this when it is Saturday! Cause it's the only day me and my sweetie gets to go out after a long week of work :(. The time goes by so fast and we always complain when it happens. I do like the hours to go by faster when I am at work, but not so much on Sundays. I like the off day and relaxation. As for the time management part...I am not the best at it but I have it pretty good IMO.

When you are with your loved ones it always seems to go even faster I agree. My hubby spends most of his working week wishing the hours away, while I am there saying no dont make it go any faster, I need more hours and I need it to go slower! Well as it is saturday today, I hope you had a nice day with your sweetie.
