I was appalled when I saw this headline in our local news. It seems that a group of neighbors were outside when a 20-year-old man suddenly tossed a cat from a second story window. He then proceeded to come downstairs, begin stomping on the cat, throwing it against a brick wall, then stomping on it some more. This was all carried out in the presence of children. The neighbors said they pleaded with the man to stop what he was doing-to no avail. Someone phoned the police who later arrested the man. All I have to say is why? How could anyone be so cruel and heartless? I think he should be subjected to the same kind of treatment. What is your opinion?

The pleaded with him? If I'd seen him throw the cat out the 2nd story window, I would have ran straight to the cat to help it. If by chance he beat me there as soon as he kicked it or hit it - I'd have wacked him with a the first thing I could find - a board or a tire iron - it wouldn't make any difference. I have no tolerance for someone hurting a helpless animal. I'm sure he only did it to be mean to the children.

I have wondered, beaniecat, what the bystanders could have been thinking to allow this to happen. Maybe they were afraid to get involved.

He should have known, Shaun, that someone who saw him would report his crime to the police, yet he went ahead with it anyway.

You know it breaks my heart to read, hear or see things like this..i cant seem to understand how some people can mistreat and hurt animals like this..but yet you see it just about everyday now..i seriously think they should revise the laws for animal cruelty in every state instead of just slapping people on the wrists when they hurt animals ..i mean come on hasnt it been said more then once in times past that killers have started off killing animals before they moved on to people? ..and yeah i do think they need to get the same kind of treatment ..i would put them UNDER the jail myself

I am hoping, sassy, that the court will take all of those points in consideration when they sentence this guy!

He should go to jail for that, a cat is a cat and has feelings too. I think that man is just plain evil. I don't care what the poor cat did. He had no right to mistreat it like that.

What kind of sicko would do this to an innocent animal, and in front of the kids too. Jeez I wonder if he would like it if that was doen to him. I hope this guy gets all he deserves, what an evil monster.

He does appear to be some kind of monster, goth, and he should be dealt with in just that way!

If I was to witness something like this, any kind of cruelty to animals as well, blind rage would happen and that person would wish he/she never hurt the animal cause I would of beat the daylights out of the person. Left him/her in a bloody mass cowering and begging to stop. Sorry, but when I go into a blind rage like that, I can't stop myself until whatever angered me that much is expelled.

That thought was tumbling around in my mind as well when I was responding to your post. I mean, they all just stood there and begged/pleaded for him to stop instead of jumping in and beating the guy up. Must of all been cowards watching.

It does cause one to wonder, blackbriar, why the people didn't make an effort to stop this nut case.

This is my opinion: These animals depends on us because they are helpless creatures..If this guy didn't want this cat, he could have at least just let it out and maybe someone could have taken it in..I know some people don't take them to the animal shelter because they charge you for taking the animal, so I can understand that..

The very fact that hewas so calculated in his abuse, carmelanirel, makes it so much worse. He had time to stop and think before he made it downstairs to finish his dastardly deed, yet he still went ahead.

He obviously needs to stay FAR away from animals. They should have something like a restraining orders for those who mistreat animals..I know when my son gets out of hand, he is not allowed to be near the animals until he calms down..

People who do this kind of thing to helpless animals will eventually do it to people if they haven't already. No animals deserves to die like that some have to be put to sleep if they are really sick and there just is no hope but to torture a animal like that....there is something wrong with this man I hope they keep him for awhile he certainly doesn't need to be let loose until he has had some serious help.

I agree, Amberina, that he should be locked away indefinitely-or at least until he receives treatment for whatever ails him.

If I had saw him, I would also be in jail. I have a cat, dog, 2 parakeets and 8 fish. Each one of them has a name. I take the same care of my pets as I do my human family members. I understand that not everybody is like me. There is an imaginary line between normal agitation and being psychotic. You dont have to like something to protect it. You may not like me but you dont have the right to violate me or anything I love. That man should be held accountable for murder. We as a society should make an example out of him. We should not be able to take the life of anything that can be domesticated in a violent, purposeful manner. Although I hate to say it but its not even shocking news anytmore. Everyday we wake up to something more horrifying on the news. What happened to loving all God's creatures. You dont have to love animals to be respectful of life. Imagine if reincarnation is a fact. I hope that man comes back as a cat. And the cat comes back as the man. What goes around comes around. Its all in the karma. fl

What a nice thought, dloveli, and I say let the punishment fit the crime for this person. Luckily, they have toughened the laws against animal abuse in my area, so I hope he is locked away for a very long time.

That is horrible! I hope he will be in jail with some really big guys that have kitties and children at home! Then the man will get what he has coming to him.
I don't know how people can be so cruel to a defenseless animal! What could a cat have done that would be bad enough to deserve that kind of treatment.
And what kind of monster does that in front of children?

I think this is disgusting and that most likely he was probably on something, whether it was prescription or not, I don't know but he was probably on someting. Either that or he was out of his mind because that's the only reason I can think of that someone would do this to a defenseless cat infront of children. It's awful!

MAD!
How can he do that?!?!! How can he kill a cat! The cat is just a pet who is so cuddly and no harm to everyone!
Worst! how could he possibly let the kids see him.... somehow, it may affect the kids attitude. Darn!

I think that is horrendous, whether or not anyone witnessed it at all. I don't understand some people, and that's just the truth. I'm not sure how anyone could subject something so innocent to such a cruel and torturous thing. Did the cat survive? Everyone has to answer to their actions, so whether people were to do that to him, it doesn't matter, because he will have to deal with the consequences of that, one way or the other.

All animal abusers like child molesters should be locked up and the key thrown away. That is just maddening that anyone could do something like that to an animal.
I've had problems before with my pets, but would never ever hurt them. They are like a child that on occasion needs correction and eventually they will learn from their mistakes if taken of in a fashion that teaches and is not harmful.
I truly hope that those children who witnessed such an act will be ok, and won't be plagued by nightmares. My thoughts are with them.

That is just horrible, I hope they put him in jail at leaste for some time. I think the people that do this are very scary. We had a guy in our city who killed a bunch of puppies just like this guy. In front of kids. I think it is a way to control or have complete control over the kids myself. I have heard of some pretty horrible stories about abuse and animal abuse is often used to get children to do what a adult wants. If the child is a witness to that they will usually do whatever is asked. I truely hope they lock him up in jail. Scary....

I almost couldn't believe it when I read it, grunge, which is why I had to confirmation on our local TV news. The act was inhuman.
