I can't stand to cook. I mean i'll make spaghetti or mac and cheese like little stuff but my boyfriend goes through all the trouble of making homemade taco's and hamburger helper I mean i love that he loves to cook and it's really good I just don't understand why someone would go through all the work to do it even to make a cake from a box. I would just buy one there just as good and inexpensive. But with him he likes alot of homemade stuff I think because that's how he grew up his mom always made homemade dishes. where as me, I love tv dinners and takeout. Some people think that it's weird that i don't cook because i'm the girl or whatever like my boyfriends dad always wants me in the kitchen and i'm just like it's a new a day and age woman do alot of things today that they didn't do back than it's changed and besides if my boyfriend loves to cook than why not let him do it. After all i clean everything up and keep the house clean. I'd much rather clean than cook any day. does anyone else get nagged on about not cooking woman or men? I think it's okay for both if you enjoy it than do it if not than stop out at the local fast food joint like in and out burger one of my favorites. Even when I do attemt to cook i'm not even that good at it I would hate for someone to get sick after my cooking but my boyfriends dad says try, try, try. My boyfriend understands that i don't enjoy it so that's great besides he hates to clean and I don't mind it.

I do not like to cook. I would rather eat out than cook. Thankfully, my hubby loves it, so it works out. He cooks, I clean :)

well ur lucky in that case coz i dont like cooking n my husband loves eating he just doesnt like anything i cook . After coming from work he is so tired i cant ask him ti cook i try really hard to impress him with my cooking but that rarely happens i think i shud try harder but i feel exhausted and irritated. At times it becomes depresing for me coz his whole mood depends on how well the dinner was and usually its not that good :( i wish i learn how to cook good food soon .

Wow - you got more responses to your "hate to cook" question than I did (I got NONE), but yes, cooking is NOT my favorite pasttime!! My mother LOVES to cook and misses it terribly since she lost her sight. I know how to cook and now live with her to do most of the cooking for her (she can do some very basic things), but I try to make them as simple and as quick as I can (or try to make things that don't require a lot of "babysitting").
Yet, despite this, I collect recipes and cookbooks, love kitchen gadgetry (I have a mandolin slicer that works wonderful) and would love to have an all stainless steel professional-style kitchen. Go figure!!
I don't know - I guess a part of me got some of her love for the kitchen, but another part of me would rather not be bothered by the hassle of it all. I hate all the fuss and planning, etc. As I said, I try to make things as basic as possible, but also try to make them taste like I worked all day on them. I have found that I cook better than I originally thought and can take pleasure in a lot of what I make, but I would still rather go out to eat and let someone else cook and clean.
My son is more like my mother - he LOVES to cook and is the main cook in his family. He's always talking to me about the dishes he makes and how he hope to get a chance to make this or that for me.
My daughter is more like me - she's doing more cooking now as she gets older and is more independent and is finding that she can do more in the kitchen than she thought, but she isn't overly kitchen domestic either.

It's nice that you help you mom out I bet she really appreciates it. When I cook I make all basic things. If I have people over I usually get take out and put in the plates and most people think I cooked it. It's kind of nice. I always tell my boyfriend that we should get these new gadgets I see on tv for easier cooking but he believes that it makes you lazy but if they are there why not use them. They take less time well thats what I would do If I had to cook. Thankfully he cooks. I get to clean it's more fun for me and I love nothing more than a clean kitchen that's why I love microwave food there is no mess. I'm sorry you didn't get any responses I didn't think I would either. My mom never liked to cook my dad would cook for me and my sister. It's nice you got some of her love for the kitchen. Me and my mom aren't close or anything. I guess part of me would of liked to cook more if we were. It was always take out with her when my dad was working or pizza pizza pizza it got old really fast. I don't have kids but my boyfriend's sister also likes to cook. My sister is still young and she doesn't like cooking yet but who knows maybe one day she will. I get nagged on about not cooking for my boyfriend but he really doesn't mind I offer but I think he's a liitle afraid to I can't seem to tell when things are done quite yet. So I don't trust most things I try to make.

My mother-in-law used to lecture me about cooking for my husband - except, I had dinner made every single night. He'd just leave if there was something there he didn't want and run to Mommy and tell her his wife didn't cook for him, so "please Mommy, make me something." My step-daughter says he still says I didn't cook for him, that he convinced himself that I didn't, even though she and his and my kids had plenty to eat every night. You're very lucky your BF doesn't worry about it and likes to cook. I'd rather cook and let someone else clean, myself, but I'll take any division of labor if offered. I like it more now than I did, but probably because I don't have my "critics" around any more. LOL I'm also more comfortable with it and more confident in my abilities. That came with time. I'm sure you'll find your cooking niche sometime, too.

yeah besides if it wasn't for him i'd be eating way to much fast food. I don't mind people who enjoy it if they want to cook than that's fine i'll eat it it's really good but i tell him he doesn't have to but he loves it and it works out besides he's not ready to take over my tv dinner habits he cringes at the day that might happen.
