Yep, I came home Thurday night and discovered that something was wrong with the phone line for our DSL so we had no internet connection. We called customer service on Friday and they said they'd send someone out on Saturday....no one showed up so we called again...they said the problem was on their end and they were trying to fix it. Yesterday (Sunday) we still had no connection so we called AGAIN. They said they don't do repairs on Sundays and would get back to trying to fix it "sometime today". Well they finally fixed it and I got to come back!
I have over 300 e-mails, ebay stuff, myspace messages and I'm sure lots of stuff here to get caught up on. Anything interesting happen while I was gone? I'll get caught up as quick as I can, it will take a while but I'm just glad to be back!

I have not been on myLot since Friday afternoon. I went to St. Louis to visit family for the weekend. I will sometimes hop on myLot from my brothers house and post some, but this weekend I didn't do anything. What a way to start the months earnings huh? I have not gotten caught up yet on what happened while I was off line for a few days yet either.

Ugh...yeah a real great start...a whopping 34 cents and that includes yesterday's. Hopefully I can just spend enough time here over the next few days to make up for some of it. I was really hoping to hit $20 for this month but that's not looking to likely at this point.
I hope you enjoyed your trip! It must be a really nice change of pace to visit family like that.

I hate it when I can't get on-line. It sure is a pain. I was thankful that yesterday I got my pc restored and got my wireless working again! YES! I hate dial up! But if I can't get on any other way, I will at least have something to fall back on.
You should have been able to at least connect by dial up! It's nice to have when things like that happen with DSL!

Hmmm...I don't really know much about how our provider works so I don't know if dial-up would have worked or not. My computer isn't set up for that but maybe? I could have probably gone to my mom's if I was really desperate but she just has regular dial-up and after using DSL all the time I have a very hard time going back to dial-up.

Welcome back. I know how frustrating that would be to not have Internet connection, as it has happened to me from time to time as well. One time it was from the weather, and not having any lines in this area open as well.
Actually, now since we choose not to have a Home Phone line, we have that issue a little more solved now. We have Clearwire for our ISP, and unless we loose power, we have access to the Internet. Do not have to worry about if the phones are working, etc. It is actually quite nice. But since it is not available everywhere yet, it is not available to most. DARN!! It is one of the best I have ever had.

Wow, that does sound nice! It's not very often that we lose service here but it sure is frustrating when we do! Things probably aren't advanced here enough to have something like that, we still don't even get cell service at home...well enough to send a text if we stand in the right spot but that's it.

Wow, what caused such a long delay in getting your internet back? I am glad to see you are back, not much going on here other than the usual postings..I don't envy you, going through all that mail, the longest I have been without internet was a couple of days and that was a nightmare enough for me, trying to catch up..

Ehh..that's how things are around here, the phone company is always slow and only pretends to work on weekends. MIL didn't call it in and waited for s/o to call them because she insisted that the problem was because the big power strip fell off on to the cord ... we kept plugging the phone into the wall jack to show her that the cord was fine but she was sure that the phone needed "less of a connection" to work than the computer. IDK...s/o gave up trying to convince her of anything and called it in himself Friday afternoon.

Luckily the only ebay stuff I 'lost' were things from an ebay store that get relisted constantly so I just found new listings and started over. I want to get some quilts made to sell and found some really great deals on fabric. I've mostly gotten caught up on everything else so today I'll concentrate on things here!

It was so frustrating, sthe computer is my only connection to some of my friends and I was really feeling bad about not being able to communicate with them. We don't have internet cafe's at all here and the libraries are too far away so I had no where to go to at least let everyone know what the problem was.

Glad to see you back foxyfire - there is nothing worse than losing your internet connection. It happens so frequently here in the Dom Rep that I just try and grab it while I can!
I know what it is like trying to catch up on all those emails. It is amazing how many discussions our friends write.
I will be going away at the end of the month (back to the UK for mother's 80th b'day) and I am dreading the backlog of emails that I will have to catch up on!
Ho hum, enjoy your internet connection!

I look at your profile to check if we came at the same country, but were not. We have the same experience about loosing some connections. It took me about 2 and 1/2 days and 2 nights before my internet connection back.
I can leave without using computer for the whole day or a week but not with the use of internet as i am owning an internet shop and internet connection is needed to earn my shop and it failed which is a big loose for me and they will answer as system restoration only.

I am glad that you are back.. I am so sorry for the loss of your internet, it is a very sad feeling and I do not wish this bad luck on anyone.. I feel as if I have lost a close friend when the internet is not working.. I do believe that I need to go to Internet anonymous, if there is such a thing, if not, then someone needs to start one.. 300 emails would freak me out, I am goofy with 80 emails.. Delete the junk and then go from there, I guess.. Good luck, good to see you back and have fun!!!

"Delete the junk and then go from there," HaHa, well believe it or not, I have mine set up to block most of the junk already. Out of those 300 e-mails only maybe 20-30 were junk. I just skipped the ones I didn't think I really needed...my yahoo groups mainly and today I'm working on mylot stuff.
It did feel like I had lost a friend! Actually like I'd lost a lot of friends since the internet is my main way of talking to my friends.

It 'flickered' once yesterday and I had a little moment about that but it seems to be working alright. There seem to be a few bugs still as it will on occasion run really slow...worse than dial-up slow, but then it straightens itself out.

Well, welcome back foxyfire, I am glad you got your connection going again. I am not sure what I would do if that happened. I would have plenty of paper so that I could write down any discussions that came to me during that time. I would probably go through some form of mlwds...lol

"mlwds"...haha, yep definitely! Any other time I've been away from here it was by my own choice so I was really missing mylot this time! It's almost funny how much we get used to having the connection...Saturday I got bored and had a 'duh' moment. I thought to myself...well since I can't do anything else I can at least start a discussion on mylot about how our connection isn't working.... At least I didn't actually sit down here to try before it dawned on me that wasn't going to work either!

I have had that happen to me where I was w/ no connection for almost a week. I had Verizon at the time and it kept happening alot so I cancelled them and went w/ Comcast I have not had the problem since. I am on this computer everyday and to have it lose it's connection like it used to was driveing me nuts. I give thumbs up to Comcast.

I don't even know who our provider is. MIL ordered some kind of bundle that includes the home phone, the internet service, and the tv. Our phone and tv were fine so I really don't understand what the problem was...they said it was on their end and they fixed it, that's all I care!

Well, welcome back my dear friend, I guess it was really hard for you. I am wondering if you even managed to go to some internet cafe just to check the updates on your account. Well, is just so nice to spend some time here in this cool website because it somehow was able to make me more friends all across the globe. I also get to improve my skills in using the computer more effectively and enhance or widen my vocabulary as well and develop my English proficient. Also, it is just so nice because there is constant sharing of ideas here and it is just so amazing. Have a great time and congratulations on having your internet back. ^_^

Nah, nothing interesting happened. Just a dry moment here and there. Its fine though.
Just like when you take breaks and such, take your time responding and getting back to everything. It'll still be there the next day or two. No rush Foxy.
Welcome back.
