"Television sets are found in almost every home worldwide. Nine out of ten people watch at least one television show a day. Children watch a great deal of television; 4-year-olds watch about 27 hours of television each week. But older people watch television more than any other age group. Men and women over the age of 55 watch more than 32 hours of T.V. each week."According to a research. The question is, don't you think we spend too many time watching television instead of getting out and spending time with our friends and family? How many hours do you spend on watching TV each week? Are you a couch potato? How many TV sets in your home?Do everyone gets their own one in their bedroom?

I watch tv sometime. I know children spend most of their times watching tv a lot. I watch my favorite important tv programs. And as a fact, I find lots of interesting facts about forensics. I watch shows about high school times and all that stuff.

Television is one of the greatest inventions of all time. It brings the world, the universe into one's home. It can educate as well as entertain. However, like any 'good' thing, it should be used in moderation and with guidance. I do not believe a four year old should be watching television for more than one hour per day....so, to answer your first quetion, I do believe children today are not getting out and about (exercise, er-lack of = obesity), are not reading enough (attention span decreases, lack of basic current event knowledge), and decrease in social interaction and conversation skills. One might even blame some of the downfall of the family on too much watching of tv (that can be extended to parents as well as children). I have three tv sets....the one larger one is a color tv set and is in the living / common room. A really old black and white is in the master bedroom. Primarily used for early morning, late night sports. The third one is in theguest room.

I would have to say that I am not a couch potato. We have one t.v set and it's in the living room. We don't really see the need to have a t.v in every room. We also don't have cable or satellite because not only is it to expensive, but we feel like it would encourage us to watch to much t.v.

The tv is on all day here if we're here. I usually get out for something at least a couple hours a day. I don't watch it much. I leave it on for Mom but she falls asleep alot of time. When my husband comes home he usually grabs the remote and watches what he likes. I watch tv late after everyone goes to bed if anything is one I like.

If I am too tired and lazy to be online, I would be in front of the TV. The hours could be almost half the time I am in office each day. At least I would have watched 2 hours daily even if I returned home late.

It's no doubt that we spend long time on computer and TV. I think it will have a bad effect on children. So we can't just blame that the children spend long time playing computer or watching TV. At first we will be good examples so that they can learn from us. I love China

I really don't consider me a couch potato. The first thing in the morning I will watch JAG. after that I'll see what's on scifi channel, if I don't like what on, than i turn it off. I'll wait until around 3pm and see what else is on, if i still don't see anything interesting I'll turn it off. but the majority of my time I spend on my computer. (classes)

Well, there are lots of televisions out there. There are all of us watching different varieties. I spend some time watching my programs. Yeah, I see that children do spend lots of their times watching tv. I do not know about being a couch potato. But I have lots of knowledge of watching certain important tv programs. I am always aware that we gotta know what is best and what is not good for children to watch.

I watch about 21 hours of tv, or 3 hours a day, a week. I don't watch tv during the day when I'm writing, working, and doing other things. I generally watch from 8 until 11 at night, with my husband. We are spending time together, and tv is something I can do that does not require a lot of thought, planning, or multitasking (although sometimes I do embroider or straighten up the room while I watch.) As for children, I think that depends on what they watch and when. I think that children should not watch more than 2 or 3 hours of television a day, and I think it should be educational television that they enjoy, like Sesame Street or Dora, and maybe a little bit of Sponge Bob or other cartoons. That way, they get to enjoy tv, still have plenty of time for other activities, and learn stuff as well.

i don't really like to watch TV and we only have one TV set in our house... that is, in the living room... both me and my hubby are working full-time and we don't have much time to watch TV... watching TV too much also not good for our eyesights and can damage our eyes... i prefer to sleep when i have free time rather than watching TV as i am already so tired after working everyday... take care and have a nice day...

I don't actually watch much TV except as background noise when I'm writing or posting, because I can't do either of those things in silence, unless I am dictating, in which case I'm listening to myself talk to it eliminates the problem. I do however make exceptions for the Alien Nation movies, Law & Order, and Dancing with the Stars (Don't ask, I began watching that show when Marlee Matlin was on it, and now I'm hooked). There are three TVs in my house, one in my room, one in my housemates' room, and one in our living room right next to my computer where I can put it on if I'm having writers block and hopefully it will alleviate it. I also watch TV when I'm eating, it's probably the only time when the TV has my full attention. When I was a kid, we never did that, unless there was a state of emergency like a blizzard or something. No TV at dinner was always the rule.

For older people , they may have out lived their friends and their family may or may not visit. And you can watch something that the whole family would enjoy and you will be spending time together with your family.I don't know how many hours I watch t.v.I usually see movies on t.v not t.v. shows.there are three t.v. sets at home. And yes there is one in my bedroom.

I guess it is quite a question of what you want to do with your time. Many efficient people will tell you that watching TV is a waste of time and if you look at it from their points of view, they are quite right! After all, watching TV is relatively passive and certainly not active. Ultimately, it boils down to the individual how he chooses to spend his time. Cheers!

I have never been much of a tv person and as a result, none of my kids are either. We only keep basic tv which is fine for news and an occassional tv show. Occassionally we'll rent a movie to watch but even that is rare. I would guess that our tv is on at the very most 5 hours per week...if that. I sometimes put it on when I'm doing housework to catch the news etc. I rarely actually just sit and watch it. Music is usually the background noise in this home. My daughter does have a tv in her room but she is like me...it is rarely on. I've seen her have it on when she is sick in bed or maybe when she has a bunch of friends over and then it is usually movies that they have rented.

That's some interesting facts. I don't really know how much I watch tv. Not too much really. I don't like to watch tv unless I'm in the mood for it. I'd say I watch about 15 hours a week if that. That's just a wild guess. I mostly watch it with my boyfriend and sometimes a friend of his comes over to watch it with us. Somedays I can be a couch potato. We have 2 tvs in our house. One in the living room and one in the bedroom.
