My Brother was Bit By a Brown Recluse Spider!!!

That is really weird because yesterday when I was reading CosmoGirl there was a story about a girl that was bit bi a Brown Recluse Spider and she almost had to get her leg amputated. I hope he is okay now because that is just awful. The girl in the magazine said that she felt awful when they told her that she might have to get her legs amputated. I hope your brother is okay.

My brother-in-law was bit by something two years ago. He had all of the symptoms of someone who was bit by a brown recluse spider. I looked it up on the internet for him, so I know that those suckers are no joke at all. The doctors never did say that was what it was, but it had to be. They treated him with antibiotics and eventually it went away, only to come back earlier this year. He was in so much pain that I could hear him hollering and pounding on the walls while I was on the phone with my sister. She almost made me cry when she said he would be saying to himself out loud, "It's okay, It's okay, everything is going to be alright." He was simply delirious with pain. He out on leave for so long, that he had to go on disability both times and they still never gave him a definite diagnosis, although, they took several biopsies on his foot. It had gotten so bad that I had went over with a camera and took pictures to sue the doctor. I am glad that your brother got a definite diagnosis and hopefully it will all clear up and he will be feeling better real soon.

I have had spider bites before although I don't think they were brown recluse. But I researched them at the time and thought maybe for a little while. I thinkk all spider bites are venemous, just that some are moreso than others. I absolutely hate spiders! I don't want to talk about this any more as it is giving me the heebie jeebies. I will pray that your son recovers without too much of a scar. I feel terrible for him.

Thats one mean spider. So is your brother going to be alright? I hope so. I was bite by some kind of spider when I was a teenager. I thought my foot was going to explode, thats how swollen it got. I can't stand the look of spiders. They terrify me.

those brown recluses are just awful! we have a lot of them in this area too. My son was bit by a pit viper - 4 years ago and is still suffering the effects of the venom.

ewww spiders are so creepy and gross. Their webs just scare me lol. Those pictures on that website just makes it worse. I hope no spiders ever come around me. Hope your brother is feeling better. Stay away from spiders.

Wow, 34momma I am sorry to hear about your brother, but I know all too well his pain. I was bitten about a year ago and did not know it either. These critters are not fun to be bitten by. When they bite the area starts to rotten from the inside out so you may not even know that you have been bitten until you get sick. they had to cut it open and stuff sterile packing in the area. It had to be removed daily and cleaned and restuffed. It was horrible. My oldest sonhad also been bitten a few years back. These are hideous little creechers...

Wow that is brutal. I hope that he will be okay. I have never been bitten by a spider before. That would scare me all to heck. My son is scared of spiders but my daughter isn't at all. I tell her that she should have a bit of fear so that she will be more careful around them. They can be dangerous ones out there. Hope he is well soon. Vicki

thankfully i have never been bitten by anything that is venomous. i have heard of these particular spiders though and the bites can be very nasty indeed. i hope your brother will be feeling better and soon. thank goodness they figured out what it was. there is nothing more frustrating than going to the doctor and being told they don't know what is wrong with you.

I have been bitten by one and it started out looking like a mosquito bite and since I thought it was just a mosquito bite I shaved my legs and that is when it began to get worse. The bite was right near my ankle and it started to look horrible my leg turned purple and started to get really swollen and the wound started to like eat itself it left a big whole on my ankle and took me about 3 rounds of antibiotics and almost losing that part of my leg. It was a very scary thing and I feel for your brother I hope he feels better soon.
