Have You Ever Been On TV?

I have, when I was 4 years old. There was a program called, "Charming Children" shown on PBS in Pittsburgh, PA when was a kid. We got a kit full of activities for the year, then my mom and I watched the show every weekday (while my baby brother napped). We did all the activities together. I imagine it was just like preschool, only on TV. Then each kid who participated at home got to be on TV one time. I remember wearing a pleated plaid skirt and white short-sleeved sweater. And I remember that the lights were so hot that I decided then and there I would never be a TV star. :-) So what about you? Have you ever been on TV?

I wondered if anyone would post that they had been on Romper Room. I loved that show when I was a kid. (And when my younger siblings were watching it...and when my son watched it...)

Yes, twice ! Once in Singapore, when attending a INTERCOLLEGE Debate Competition. The second time was in Madagascar, when attending an EXPO.

i never actually and i never want to be a TV star either... i don't like to be in the spotlight and centre of attention... i prefer to be a normal person and lead a simple life... so even if i am offered to be on TV, i might reject it... and you are right that the lights are very hot and they are shooting right at you... i just can't stand it... take care and have a nice day...

I've been on a few local channels, but for nothing really that big. Basically some football games and a few events when I was still in highschool a while back. I even know a few people from the local channels now so it's pretty neat. Nothing too exciting, but at least I can say i've been on tv!

I've been on TV a few times, but just for local news stories where I happened to be there. It wasn't anything formal and there was no special lighting. One time it was news coverage of a parade I was in, another time it was the marching band halftime show, another was a public event with presidential candidates.

I was on television several years ago when the local news team went to our school because rumors of a bomb threat surfaced around the city and our alma matter was the target. So there I was with a bunch of my other classmates waving and trying to greet our parents while teachers and our principal were seriously interviewed during the whole thing.

Well, good for you. Congrats on winning some beauty pageants. I hope it was a good experience for you. I've heard that for some it was not.

There was one time I was on a schools local tevision show or I think that is what it was called, cause what happened was me and two of my buddies were at the mall in the next county shopping for prank stuff, for out graduation, and we came out and this guy was interviewing people and he had cue cards and he was asking how many people could name all the famous pictures on the cards, and he said he was from a elementary school I think, and well I had a hand buzzer, and as he was talking I was winding it behind my back,so when he went to shake my had, since I was the closest too him,it shocked him,it was so funny, the dude took it well too,and thought it was funny, and the funniest part was he got it on tape,so I am sure there were some kids somewhere laughing about it lol.

When I was little I never was on T.V. But I always wanted to be. I always wanted to be the next Marilyn Monrow. When I got up big enough to start talking I ended up on stage singing for the March Of Dimes in our area and one year they had it on the radio. But even that was a bit to much for me as I got older. They eventually stoped having the singings and I stoped singing. I never thought I sang well but I was happy if it pleased my grandma because she was what started me to doing it. Mom hated paraiding me on that stage because she hated crowds but every year I would go and here my grandma would be saying please sing for me and some how I always ended up on that stage. In some ways I loved it but in others it ended up being fine but being there scared me a bit. End the end it taught me to do for others despite my fears. In some ways I had the best and the worst of that time on stage. As long as I know I made my grandma happy I can live with the bad that came in it.

I imagine it was good for you Angela, and it made your grandmother happy. That was important.

Yup, a local kids' show. Sounds similar to the one you were on. It was called "The Uncle Al Show" (honestly, nowadays that would sound creepy). The kids who had a birthday the month you appeared in the show got to ride on a carousel and the first time I went, I didn't get to ride, but my cousin did. So for the next several months, I bothered my mom about the carousel ride everyday, and drove her so crazy she agreed to take me to be on the show during my birthday month. Its kinda cool, the kids on the show wore cardboard bowties with their name on it, which we got to keep, and everyone received a group photograph from that day's shoot with the cast. Almost 30 years later, my mom still has both pictures and bowties.

You're right. That name wouldn't cut it today. :-) Sounds like a cool show, though. The one I was on didn't have a carousel. :-(

I was on tv once, but like you, I was just a kid. I think I was about 9 yrs old. It was one of those kid shows that had a clown and we were doing games and some kinds of activities. It's been so long ago that I can barely remember. Those of us that were on that day were so awed by the cameras and seeing that red headed clown that we had only seen on tv that I don't think we paid much attention to what we were supposed to be doing. Our parents were in a little observation room and saw everything that was going on. But all of the kids knew each other from school so we were fairly comfortable even with the lights and all of the action going on.

Back then, there were lots of kids shows - local and national ones - that put us on the TV. I'm not sure they have those anymore.

I'm trying to think hard and I remember when I took part in a quiz when I was in school there was a news channel covering it and I was on TV for a millisecond or so.... that was EXCITING!!

That counts! It is exciting to be filmed for the news. (And it stinks if something "more important" happens and they don't show it.)
