What Would You Do When You Retire (if money is not a concern)?

Recently I met a person online and he’s already retired. I sort of admire that he doesn’t have to work and could finally enjoy his full-time life. I think when I retire, I would want to live somewhere quiet, travel from time to time to see the world more, read and paint, maybe learning new things to develop new interest too. I can’t wait to start living my full-time life now *laughs*. However, at this moment, I still need my full-time job to sustain my future full-time life.

When I retire, I will spend most of my time on my hobbies, such as painting, traveling, cooking and so on. I download quite a lot of software, music and movies. I want to finish them when I am retired. And I shall play enough games at that time because money and time is no longer a problem for me:)
I love China

I just work part-time now. We moved to FL 5 years ago to get settled in what would be our home when we retire. I don't know that I will ever completely quit working. But if I do, I'd just do more of what I like to do now: travel, read, take walks, swim, maybe do some volunteer work.
It's weird because, since we moved here, it feels to both of us like we are on a "Permanent vacation" even though we both still work! I guess it's just the environment, the weather, the whole "tropical thing" going on.
Hope you get to live your "fill-time life" soon.

Well, i think when i retire... i would do a lot of travelling in and out of my country... i love to travel... and i can't do that right now because of my other responsibilities in life...
When not travelling... i can see myself taking care of my grandchildren... so i hope i have a lot of them...

When I retire, I'll probably still work part time to keep boredom at bay. It would be something that appealed to me though. Perhaps at a place that offered an employee discount on items that I enjoy, like a book or craft store. I'd also dedicate a lot of time to crafts, reading, watching movies and of course cooking. There would be travel, but not extensive travel for weeks at a time.

I have also thought about what will I do when I need to stop working or say when I have to stay home because I am old. And I have come up with almost the same idea as yours. I would want to settle on a house which will give me and my husband a good view of nature and the city. Somewhere high, that would give me an overlooking view of the city as I am feeling the scent of greens while watching how busy they are down there. I love to have a small garden- I really want to grow plants and flowers which I can't do now for my work is really demanding. Next, I wanted to have an aquarium. I am always fascinated with fish and how they can relax me. I also told my boyfriend recently that I want to paint when I am old, like you I will also read. And then watch movies at home with my husband beside me. I also want to travel on places that I wanted to see. If my son/daughter (right now I still don't know) already have their own family by that time, I will make sure they will come over every weekend, I will cook for them and bond with my beautiful grandchildren. Gee, these sounds so good...

If money was not a concern, it would be a lot of fun to do a lot of travelling. it would also be fun to have houses all over the world, so when we traveled, we could stay in one place for a good long time. That would be a load of fun for us. My husband and I would love to have a house in Croatia, right on the sea.

I've been drawing a pension now for a few years but I don't use the word 'retired' - sounds like I went to sleep! haha
I am really busy and can just find time to relax on occasions.
My advice - don't wait to do things like travel. Do it while you are fit and young as you will have more fun. When you get old 'bits drop off' and it slows you down.

Being already retired I would do exactly what I am doing. Stay u p late, sleep in, eat when I want to and attend to several hobbies. When hubby and I were working all day and half the night 6 or 7 days a week we did not have time for any hobbies. I always marveled that so many other people had time to do creative things.
Now I have lots of hobbies, the most interesting of which is growing plants in air and water.
This one is very tasty and has a nice crunchy, juicy texture. I often eat a handful right off the plant when passing by the planter. It is very healthy, too, full of Omega-3.

That sounds like a really cool retirement to me. My husband would like that, too. Take care.

If money were not the object buy a fairlyinexpensive house then go see Ireland and scotland, come home and learn to be a notary of public so I would have a nice little business and not be scorned for my grey hair and my age lol

wow! how i wish money is not a concern. but to answer your question, i think i would travel, or have a pilgrimage even. i'd like to visit the holy land. then i could make my way to egypt and wonder at the pyramids.
id also like to visit the pope in the vatican, get lost in the narrow alleys of venice, stuff myself with gelato and pizza. in short, i'd definitely put italy in my 'to go' list after retirement.
like you, i too need to find a full time job to be able to visit all the places in my 'to go' list

When I retire I want to travel the world, go to different places, live somewhere peaceful. I'm thinking of living abroad when I retire, somewhere I can start a new life and really get to enjoy things. Who knows, I might end up discovering a new talent or hobby out of my retirement. I wish I could retire in an early age, not older than 45 years old sounds okay so that I could enjoy retirement rather than retiring in an old age.

What a wonderful word, "retire". I wish I had enough money to do that. I would not really stop working but I will probably be working on my music. I like to play the piano although my fingers deny me the joy of playing wonderful music. I would also work on websites and do some programming stuff, just because. Cheers!!

My husband and I both had to retire young through ill health so we have little money but we do have a motorhome so we are enjoying travelling around Britain to places that we have not been to before. We are hoping to travel Europe sometime but we have an old Greyhound who would not enjoy travelling too far. So far we are really enjoying our retirement even with hardly any money.

If money is not a concern, then I would absolutely love to be to travel the country on a road trip once I retire. This is something I actually even now would love to do. But unfortunately money *is* a concern and I don't have nearly enough to do that. Besides that, I do have to worry about finishing school (so long as nothing messes me up, I'm finally done in December!). Here's to a happy full-time life one day! lol
