arthritis comes in different forms like gout, osteo, and others..well the pain is quite excruciating and nonetheless very hard to endure..my dad have this gout arthritis when he was yet alive and seeing him brave the pain is something that i did not know then until it came to me back in my twenty...the pain is somehow and unbearable and your toes got swollen and red hot then your whole foot and you cannot make it to a position to find comfort and once touch even a slightest touch, that will register an excruciating pain..it takes me some years to fully understand the way these health problem will affect me until the time that it takes me to be bed ridden for nearly a month just of this health problem which i inherited from my dad...at this point of time i lose my job for incapacity to go to work and it really takes away a lot of self esteem and confidence in myself...thanks God for giving me knowledge and wisdom to know about my thorn of the flesh and today after many years of suffering from the onset of this ill, i have found something that really help me to manage and control the onset of this illness...knowing the ways to control it is the best way rather than curing it because up to this point of time there is no medicine that really cures this problem...how about you what kind of arthritis do you have and giving you pain..

i just recently recovered from a bad case of gout. i also got it from my father. i can imagine the pain you went through, and the difficulty of finding a position which doesn't cause pain. even wind blowing against my foot would cause pain. it felt like there were shards of broken glass scratching against my bone and foot muscles. i'm avoiding food rich in uric acids even though some of those are my favorite, because there is just no pleasure worth the pain caused by gout.

Hahaha...that's how I feel about sisig. I'm not such a big nut eater. When people offer nuts to me, I just say that it's not worth the pain. I take it that's how you feel too. BUT, when we're talking about crispy pata, ahhhhh, now there's something that might just be worth the pain. I just drink lots of water, eat bananas and take medication to prevent a major attack.
Can you believe it though? I used to eat sisig thrice a week. Now it's down to thrice a year!

Hi arnold, I'm sorry to hear about your condition. Arthritis is indeed excruciatingly painful. I have Psoriatic Arthritis which is somewhat similar to Rheumatoid except it happens only to people born with Psoriasis. It started about the same as my Fibromyalgia so I got a double hit. Constant muscle and joint pain combined. Right now it has done a lot of damage to my lower back and left hip so I can no longer stand up completely straight or walk without a limp.
I still sing with my band but that's about all I can do anymore. I can only be on my feet for about 10 or 15 minutes and then I have to sit down so I always keep a tall stool on stage just in case.
It has been quite a change from my former life. I owned my own business plus worked a 9-5 job. I was always busy and running around doing something active and working about 16 hrs a day. Now there are days I need help off the couch or I can't stand at the sink long enough to do my dishes.
I've learned a lot about patience and accepting the way life is, unpredictable and always a new surprise waiting around the corner. I have my good days and bad days and I've learned to live with that.

Hello arnold and welcome to myLot. I'm sorry that you are troubled with gout. I understand that any rich foods will cause it to flare up. it sounds so very painful. I have Juvenile Rheumatoid arthritis and have had it for over 20 years now. I do have it under control right now as far as pain goes. but since it is a crippling disease it make doing some thing difficult. I hate having to ask some one to do some of the simplest of things.

It is inevitable to experience with this kind of joint pains. It is common that we have the wear and tear of our joints, estimated at the of 20s. But then, we can some things to consider to prevent this, we can always bear in mind to do proper body mechanics.

I have rheumatoid arthritis. It hurts in my hips, back and shoulders. Exercise helps and I take medication, but this cold weather is really causing me to ache! I need to move further south for the winter like the birds. LoL!
