Well, today I voted for the very first time...even though I'm 40 years old. I won't say who I voted for but most ppl here probably know already LOL What's so funny is that while we (myself, my oldest brother and my stepdad) were there voting there was a woman going around taking pics of everyone. Well, I went to the store with my Mom this evening and happened to glance at the city paper while I was waiting for her and low and behold there was yours truely on the front page LOL Yup, my first time voting and I got my picture in the paper...you can't beat that!! My Mom bought 2 copies so she could send my Dad one LOL
How old were you when you first voted? Have you ever gotten your picture in the paper?

They came and registerd those of us who were 18 when I was a Senior in High School. They came to my high school to do it. So I was a registered voter pretty much from the begining. I was so excited and felt so grown up being able to vote. I pretty much voted for who my parents were voting for, and didn't really pay attention to the issues that much at that time, I just wanted to vote. Then in the next election I was in college, and I studied all of the issues, and voted according to how much I agreed with the candidates on the issues. I have pretty much been voting ever since.

Hey, that's pretty cool!! I've never been in the paper, let alone on the front page!! But my son was once, when he was at a "Welcome Santa to Town" thing. I still have it somewhere.
I think I was in my mid 20's the first time I voted...

Welcome to your 15 minutes of fame! I voted as soon as I was old enough and at the time when I lived in South Carolina the age was 21. I got my picture in the paper a lot when I lived in a small town and I did community theater. We always had pictures of the play in the papers.

The first time I register to vote I got called for jury
duty.I went and I knew the person on trail, they had to
release me from serving on that jury. That was something
to remember for me.I got my picture in the paper one
time,when they did a piece on where I worked.Everyone
was telling me about it.My family brought copies.

Wow what an experience that must have been. I hope you kept the picture! I am glad you exercised your right to vote. A friend of mine voted for the 1st time too. He will be 53 in June. He was happy about it. But no pic in the paper!

I am 51 years old now and I didn't vote this year. I live in Canada and I didn't like
any of the candidits or parties that were running so I just didn't bother to vote.
I wouldn't have known who to vote for because I don't like any of them.
But if I were an American I would have voted. I really like Obama and I an hoping he
keeps his promises because what the president of the United States does affects me
and the whole world.
I started voting when I was 18 years old and have voted most years but not this time,
and I feel a little bit bad about it.
Alrighty then, talk to you later,
your friend Chris.

That is cool!! Now you have a photo of an important moment in your life to treasure. Laminate it so it lasts.
I was 18 when I first voted and I am ashamed to say it was for Nixon, lol.

Twoey, that is SO neat. Just glad to see you vote. My granddaughter is 18 and wasn't going to vote. But her Mom talked to her when she got off work at 6PM and she said she was going. She was so excited that she went on and voted for the first time she was eligible. I told her Mom she'd be happy to be able to say that. I know we didn't vote when we were her age! I could have voted the first time in 1964, although I was 21, but I had just gotten married and my husband was overseas in the AF, and I didn't register to vote. We were pretty old when we decided we needed to vote. My son has always voted. My daughter said this was the 2nd presidential race she had voted in.

I have been in the paper, always for good things, and I am so sleepy, I probably cannot tell many of them. I know in highschool my Senior year I was a Voice of Democracy winner.(I did a lot of public speaking in High School, but I do not know how or why) I think the teacher made me enter. I am glad you voted. I was in my twenties when I started voting, or my thirties. All I know is that I had moved here before I ever began to vote.

I have been in the new and interviewed on the news for my job that I use to have. I am not a fan of public notoriety for myself. I am glad you got your photo on the front page. I am glad you voted.
I have been voting on and off since I was 18. I have been voting faithfully for the last several years. I think it is one of our civic rewards that our forefathers fought for and one of our civic responsibilities.

Way to go Twoey!
I am really happy for you that you had that experience. I have been up to all of that campaigning stuff myself and it was quite a time. Really neat experience. I wrote about it in my articles. PM me if you want those. But, congrats on your vote. Good, brilliant, and way cool.

Hi there twoey and congratulations! Didn't it feel good to vote for the first time? I just turned 40 but I have been voting since my mid twenties. It's a wonderful thing to be a part of. And then to be put on the front page of the newspaper is icing on the cake. Take care and God Bless twoey!
